What constitutes the higher prices for higher end rifles? I am going to try and see for myself…final impressions. Update on accuracy and chrony.

So…wow. It is powerful. I mean very powerful. My suspicions came true after a friend let me borrow their chrony at the range and after I saw the 38 grain Nielsen slugs grouping quite well at 50 yards. I did a chrony at home and it was shooting at an average of 960 FPS with 34 grain JSBs which is 70 foot pounds of energy. Extreme spread was about 10 feet per second. What sucks is that I know the rifle really loves the lower speed at like 870 because when the pressure fell below it’s Goldilocks zone…groups tightened a lot. However, I’m unable to get there without getting a new hammer spring. Yes the hammer spring is adjustable, but no it is not able to get down to those levels unless you cut it which I don’t want to do right now. I was shooting hybrids over 1000 FPS and they were grouping quite wide (obviously). Gun gets about 40 shots at this power. I’m guessing…just by the group I got when I was pushing the 38 grain Nielsen‘s at around 880 FPS…that if I shoot 31 grain Nielsens, I will get some extraordinary groups at that power level. The unfortunate part is that I don’t have access to those slugs at the moment.

Groups in order of pictures (all 50 yards): 38 grain Nielsens, 34 grain JSBs, 25 grain JSBs, 34 grain JSBs.

The rifling is superb. It is a choked barrel and I wish I had the lighter Nielsens to test my hypothesis. For now though, you guys know what to expect from $630 PCP.

If I spent the time to figure it out, I’d be getting half an inch groups no problem at 50 yards. However, I don’t have the time lol. I came to the realization that this is a bench gun and not one you’d carry in the fields like I plan to.

Edit: apologies for the second picture…didn’t know it came out blurry when I first took it.

Oh I see so you did shoot it. Interesting. That is shooting pretty hot. Those choked barrel from Turkey are pretty good with slugs. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got half inch groups at 50 yards with 28-35 grain slugs. I guess the tuneable factor in the higher price point rifles seems to be the only difference judging by your hypothesis.

Also the regulator does make a difference too. This one is pretty consistent without a regulator due to the “consistency valve.” However, I’ll never be able to get that 2 FPS spread that a regulator can.
