I just ordered a new pair of prescription glasses. I got them in a drivers transition brown. They go from yellow in the dark to brown in bright light, and they are polarized. I am wondering what color lenses others use for shooting sports. I got mine to help define dark targets on field target courses. What other colors work?

I use the Oakley TR-45's almost exclusively for all shooting - indoor, outdoor, wherever.
Typically a purple, amber, orange, or yellow is a popular choice. The Oakley TR-45's have a Red base (TR = Target Red).

I have a set of Venture Gear Drop Zone safety/shooting glasses that came with a set of 4 interchangeable lenses, clear, orange, purple and dark grey, I use the clear the most. The orange is great for over cast/dark days.

I wear transition(HA!) lenses that get dark with a hint of UV light. I started wearing the type before FT entered my life. I never gave it a second thought, and have yet to see a detrimental aspect.

I like polarized lenses. Generally and historically, light yellow has been the "standard" for shooting glasses.

I had some gray transitions with the polarized, IMHO a waste of money for the polarization, only works outside and really didn't see a difference. Now have just regular gray with anti-glare.

Harold Morgan who sold Randolph Rangers told me you should wear the lightest tint you can. You should almost squint. You can wash out some background with the different colors. Vermillion (red) makes orange dome clay birds look bright yellow!

Amber lens, but don't let them over tint them. Very good in low light conditions. Really helps with definition of critters in the middle of a bunch of leaves, but in my experience not good at all for night time driving.
