What am I missing?

Decided to keep my Fx m3 and try to learn it bought a caliber kit for .25 tensioned barrel etc. I’ve tuned and tuned and just can’t get the results I want….

Being fairly new to the hobby I’ve bought a few different guns to try (guilty pleasure). One being the RTI priest II. Pulled it out of the box cranked up the reg to 135 hammer spring maybe a revolution and a half to get the speed the slug wanted and bam. First group (green) 50 yds. Second group 100 yds. Was this blind luck ?

This is by no means a throw off on fx. The M3 is a sweet shooting gun and as smooth as it gets but spent well in to the high 2k range now for mediocre results.

Bought a 1200 gun mounted a scope a couple
Quick adjustments and we are driving tacks. Just seems like for what you spend you should get this performance maybe I’m wrong or missing something. Please chime in with your thoughts.

are you trying to shoot the same slug out of the M3 that you are the Priest? Your M3 may not like it while the Priest obviously does. You could try another slug brand in the Priest and get ho hum results with it.

Probably not enough info for us to help you with your quest. The M3 is certainly a capable rifle but takes some tuning to get it to do what you want. To shoot slugs, you'll not only need the proper tune - you'll likely need the appropriate slug barrel liner.

There are a number of factors that go into tuning the M3: the regs, power wheel, micro adjuster, valve adjuster, etc. Even if you have the correct liner for your ammo of choice, even a minor tweak to one or more of the adjustments can be the difference between a dime sized group versus a quarter sized group. The Impact shoots many/most popular pellets well but for slugs, you'll need to put some work in to find the proper settings. So let us know what slugs you're trying to shoot, what barrel/liner you're using and your current settings and there'll be plenty of people that can give you some guidance.

First welcome to the rabbit hole. The folks that are familiar with this gun need a lot more info, Pressures, hammer settings, FPS, weights, anything and everything, oh yeah and distance. As a poster said, it may hate those slugs. Make sure everything that is suppose to be snug is snug, don't ask how I know.

Just as a base line the .25 jsb knockouts 33 grain. For the tune first reg 150. Second reg 125. Best results were with the macro wheel at 12 micro about 3.5. Valve line 4.

Barrel is the heavy liner with carbon fiber sleeve. Slugs did best around 940 fps got very sporadic when I cranked up to 1000 fps or less than 940. To be clear 940 was just fair results. At 50 yards.
