Weihrauch HW 97

Hey readyfisher9,

I recently orderd a 16j / sub 12 fpe HW97K in .177 from Krale. Three days later it arrived in Indiana. (16j / sub-12 fpe HW97K or TX200 not available in USA...only FAC)

I couldn’t be happier with this HW97K. It shoots H&N FTT, JSB Exact, and Crosman Premier HPs (7.9-8.65 gr) extremely well at 780-790 fps. All three shoot 1” groups or better at 16yds(near zero) and 36yds(far zero). The FTT and Crosman HPs shoot best. Occasionally you get a loose fitting HP (you’ll feel it). The JSB Exacts (4.51) chambers a little loosely but consistent. (4.52) might be more accurate. The FTTs shot l-7/8” group at 55 yards, last evening. Haven’t tried the others that far, yet.

Lower power, a little easier to cock, a little less violent shot cycle, might last a little longer, no need for a $90 tune or de-tune kit in a new rifle, but it’s an option. And it likes Crosman Premier HPs.....less than $6 (500) at Walmart. This is my first springer.... no twang noise to me.....lots of fun... will make me a better marksman.

Regards,

John

P.S. I’d like to thank Joe (Cyclops Videos). His hard work helped me choose the HW97K and an Arken SH-4 FFP Scope.

I picked up the HW97 some years ago from Straight Shooters in .177 and at that time, the Beeman Field Target Specials were the pellet of choice for my rifle and I've not been able to find a pellet that can come close to that one when it comes to accuracy. My TX200 in .177 is shooter for sure but for me, it's a toss up when it comes to their over all performance. I did have to replace the spring in my 97 because there was a tang from the beginning and it was broken but hey, that's a another part of life when it comes to springers.

Did somebody mention blue laminate HW97K?

Edenwildfood, it is an FFP, and shots out to 60 or 70 yards are a possibility. I have the same scope on my Walther Rotek .22 , and the 8X34X56 on my Umarex Gauntlet .25. We hunt a mega-dairy, and ground squirrels out to 100 yards are a regular deal. The HW97K will be mostly off the bench. The rifle is too heavy to walk far with, and off a tripod the PCP's shoot a lot better.
