weihrauch 110... lacking power?

hello,

i bought a chrono from ebay, LMBR R2, and made some testing with my WH 110st (0.177 )with a few different pellets. I haven,t been able to find
any site with chrono results using this airgun, so I dont have anything to compare with, but it seems to be lacking some power...maybe?

(6 shot averages)

H&N barracuda hunter extreme, 0.62g = 14.6j / 214 m/s

JSB express, 0.51g = 13.71j / 233 m/s ( most speed )

H&N Rabbit magnum II , 1,02g = 13.93j / 165 m/s

 H&N Barracuda match, 0.62g = 15.40j / 211 m/s ( most energy )

H&N Silver point , 0.75g = 13,87j / 203m/s

JSB Monster, 0.87g = 14.31j / 181 m/s

On the weihrauch website, it states 16.3j and 250m/s ... how are these numbers understood?
the muzzle speed of 250 m/s is only attainable with some extreme light pellet and the 16.3j with some extreme heavy ones ?

i only had the airgun for some months, but havent had the time to shoot much with it, and am just a noob, so apologize in advance if this question is stupid.

Do you have the carbine or the full length? I believe the full length should be up over 1000 fps. So with some JSB 8.44 or 10 gr pellets I would think you should be hitting the high 800s to 900 fps at least.

Also - how much have you shot it? The reg on the HW44/110 does take a bit to break in, but you should still be getting better speeds.

Have you tried cleaning the barrel? See if that helps.

Oh - one other thing. Are you filling it above 200bar? I have the HW44 and the one time I went up to about 220-230 bar in the fill it performed horribly (shot slow and unpredictable) until the pressure came back down to ~200.

Most manufacturers use the lightest pellet weight available to determine its 'max velocity'...and then turn around and use the heaviest to determine 'max energy'...

Not implying this is the case here, but more than likely it is...if you could get 300 m/s with the very light pellet, don't you think the manufacturer would boast that number instead? I know I would...

hi, thanks for your reply.

yes it makes sense they would, even if I feel it's a cheat from their part. I would expect the 16.3j of energy with a "standard" pellet, for ex. jsb exact ..

but the rules of the game aren't like this.

in reply to ctshooter, I have the full length version ,

I fill up to 200 bar, I only have a hand pump , it's hard enough to get it to 200 :)

and I think I have shot around 1000 pellets or so ..

thanks for your reply.

Did some more testing.

First weighted the pellets so that weight difference isn't a factor

Pellets used are all 0.177 - 6 shots with each variant.

So what do you guys say ? should I send it back for fixing or is this within the acceptable margin?

How many shots do you get before it comes off the regulator?(110) or more?

you did buy the 16 joule version, if you need more power there is the FAC version 30 J , but it is the 600 mm barrel instead of the 410 mm ,that yours is

I doubt the starlings can tell that it is a joule or two shy of the advertised power.

how do you like the gun? and what is your main use of the gun? target(paper punching), pest control, field target competition

myself, I would not send it back for just being a little shy of 16.3 J

hello,

So it's time for an update as promised.

Weihrauch wanted me to contact Hull Cartridge in the UK, and send them the riffle for repair.
I've contacted Hull Cartridge, but I can't export a riffle to the UK, as the laws in the EU don't allow me to do so.. so further emails with WH
They advised me to contact their danish distributor Hunters House ( huntershouse.dk )

I've sent them an email, and a couple days later they called me up - after the person told me his life story, about that he was in the military and all about his experience
with guns over 60 years or whatever, and that I could just hold over if the gun is under powered, etc..etc.. I felt that I wasn't being listened to and my problem being ignored.

So I really felt disappointed with the whole situation, seeing that "I had bought a Ferrari that only can drive up to 100 MPH, and when I complain to the dealer about the problem, they tell me that I can only drive up the highway limit of 80MPH anyway, and try downhill, if I want to go faster"

So that was February 2019...
Now its July, several tins of pellets after, and the muzzle speed has gone further down from an average of 212 m/s (695 fps) and 15.56J (11,48 ft-lb) in February ,

to an average of 193m/s (633 fps) and 9.0J (6.6 ft-lb ) with the same pellets as before (same tin), both tests done indoors at the same temperature, H&N Barracuda Match 0.177. ( average from 10 shots, chrono )
So, I purchased an airgun with an advertised muzzle speed of 250 m/s and 16.3Joules, but not even a year has gone by, and its down to 193m/s and 9.0 Joules.
To compensate for this, I've been using lighter pellets - at the moment JSB Exact RS 0.177, 0.475g / 7.33gr - but not even this comes near what the air riffle is supposed to deliver.

Conclusion:
Am never, ever again, buying anything "Weihrauch" and from my experience, do not advise anyone to spend their money on this brand.
I know that price and quality go hand in hand, and maybe that,s what you can expect from a cheap plastic airgun.. I dont know.

I've learnt my lesson, and seems that my next upgrade should come from my neighbor country, to the north.. not south.. has this went.

Put some baby powder along where the airtank meets the stock. If there’s a puff, its an o ring off the transfer port. It’s actually a square port with an o ring around it. They give out occasionally. My hunting buddy had this same problem. Looked it up on how to take it apart and found that oring broken. Put a new one in and it’s back to it’s original performance.

Tried to do as advised ,look for leaks, everything seemed fine. .. but must have done something wrong while putting it back together , now it's only 90 m/s ....

I think I need help :/ am an idiot and I don't know what am doing .

I took the air cylinder out and opened the two screws, one had a spring and a white tube, and the other had 8 spacers ... I cleaned it up, added a drop silicon grease, and closed everything again...

Must be something clear and easy to fix , but I don't know what.

Ideas ?

Thanks

"I took the air cylinder out and opened the two screws, one had a spring and a white tube, and the other had 8 spacers … I cleaned it up, added a drop silicon grease, and closed everything again…"

Are you saying you took the firing valve out and dissembled the regulator?

If so and if leagl you could (dealer part only) install the higher power stem. Those 8 washers in the reg as dished springs which must face the correct pattern and effect the pressure setting of your reg.

Have any pictures?

Hi again,

First i want to apologize for my comments about weihrauch, and am sorry about the bad impression. Frustration and disappointment and some temper took over, so, am sorry, hope you guys let this one pass :)

I've been at it again, trying to figure out what went wrong, disassembled everything again ( more than a few times ) somethings went wrong, others went ok.

Now am testing some settings, but right now its shooting JSB Exact RS at an average of 277 m/s n ( 908 fps) and an average energy of 18.07Joules ( 13.32 ft-lb)
H&N Barracuda Match are at 242 m/s ( 793 fps ) and 20.21Joules ( 14.90 ft-lb )

Going in the right direction - next I will try to adjust the power down to 12 ft-lb , so I can keep it legal and high shot count, since the air cylinder its small and this higher power figures dont give more than 30 -40 shots, compared to around 120 - 130 at the lower power.

Answer to Spysir: Yes the washers were placed back in the same way as they were (((()))) - just cleaned them and added a drop silicon and put it back in.
Didnt take any pictures - I just followed the guide posted above. ( that man deserves a beer )

Thank you all for your replies and am sorry again for my weihrauch bashing.
