Weekend pictorial, hunting with a 1957 Benjamin Franklin C02 177 and Penny 🐿

I wanted to try something new, something different. Instead I found something approximately 60 years old. It’s like new.

I really wanted a medium powered 177 to hunt chipmunks with this weekend. The closest thing I could find was this old time Benjamin 77 carbine.

It was part of an auction I won. This was a few years back, I soaked it down with oil and it’s been sitting since.

I was amazed with two things. First off the power, second the accuracy.

The rifle actually has a little tiny Peepsight. I couldn’t imagine it would even work. It worked flawlessly. The design of this rifle is so cool. So simple. And so effective. I won four of them as part of the auction, this was the only one with a peep sight.

Below is a 32 yard, six shot group. I pulled the upper right shot that barely hit the blade. So I took one more just for fun. Shot this using that little tiny Peepsight offhand.

I shot the sixth shot after I walked out and took a picture.

I went 6\7 one shot kills on chipmunks this weekend. The one that I missed, I blew by his head. Second shot done.

Two of the shots were a bit over 20 yards. The long one was 23.

Penny actually caught a rabbit by herself. It was a baby bunny. She of course brought it to me still alive. She did the same thing with a baby bird. She set it in my hands I lifted it up and tossed it in the air and it flu 30 yards off and landed in the tree.

@Flintsack That wood looks great! 60 years old? How did it look before you oiled it down? Good shooting. I’m really enjoying reading about Penny’s progress. She really seems to be coming along beautifully.
Penny is doing awesome beyond my wildest dreams. The stock looks like brand new. I don’t think the rifle had ever been shot.
