We can send a man to the moon. WHY CAN'T WE MAKE A SCOPE MAGNUM SPRINGER PROOF !

Even on the ZR mount the scope slams back making a very audible sound on the shot cycle. Don’t know if this is normal or not but it doesn’t happen on my 22 Trail.

I'm guessing what you are hearing is the scope returning to its resting position in the mount. This would be FAR less violent than the slam from the piston at the end of its stroke and much more importantly, it is in the opposite direction. The scope seating forward is the same as the rifle moving rearward which almost all scopes are better at absorbing. If you are concerned about the metal on metal or the sound itself just put an o-ring or two on the front side of the shafts and it will have a pillow soft landing. I am a firm believer in the ZR mounts. I have never lost a scope of any kind while using them. There are things I would change and I would love to see someone take the idea to the next level, but, until then they will keep protecting my glass as is.

Unfortunately, the Diana Zero Recoil mount fits dovetails rather then Picatinny rails like those on the ASP20.

Best wishes.

The other Mark B.

The current design does seem to be dovetail only with 30mm rings and metal indexed spacers for 1" tubes. The previous design was made in 4 flavors.

Picatinny - 1"

Dovetail - 1""

Picatinny - 30mm

Dovetail - 30mm

You may be able to find someone willing to sell or an NOS somewhere. The older design was a little lower and left room for only scopes with a narrow central bulkhead. If you do go that route you may need to keep that in mind.

Thanks Lewis I’ll give the o-rings a try. Yes the metal on metal noise is distracting. I to haven’t noticed any significant poi shifts with my ZR mounts ignoring the scope failure for now. I’ve also put hundreds of pellets through both rifles and only had to make one or two click adjustments due to what I believe is extreme temperature changes coming from a cool safe to 39 degree Celsius heat.

Thanks again for your tips.

No way I’d trust standard mounts for $15, let alone something with that many moving parts and pieces. That aluminum is most likely as soft as microwaved butter.

You want sonething with some longevity, and consistency? You honestly think a $15 part is going to provide that? No way.

Just the idea of going cheap on mounts is comical to me. $600 rifle, $350 scope and a $15 piece of scrap holding them together. I’ll gladly spend the additional money for something I know works.

ZR mounts on 4 springers from 9 to 20+ ft-lb. No issues so far.

I actually ordered a couple of the cheap mounts just to test them. I have a Ohunt FFP scope and I was very surprised by the clarity and it's been holding zero for about 9 months. I'm going to try the mounts on my D460 and D48.

I'd still like to see some 10yrd groups with guns using this mount system.

This is a 35 yard group. If I remember correctly, it's 7 or 8 shots from my 22 cal D54

Impressive to say the least! I may end up going this route if the problem continues. Explain a little more in depth the modification that is being done to the mount and why it's being done ?

In my first response on page 1 of this thread is a link to a previous thread with some pictures and explanation of what I did to mine. Anyone can do it with a drill and some cheap goods from any local hardware store. Just basically eliminated any chance of slop. If I’m honest I didn’t have any issues before but I couldn’t leave it alone. Feeling any movement made me crazy even though it was probably repeatable before I touched it.
