WC II .25 - What's Going On With This??

Previously, last week, I was pesting Starlings at 25-50 yds. Missed some but got some also. Today I decided to Chrono because I had not done it in a long time. My buddy had just Chrono his Crossbow...at 920 FPS and about 3-4 FPS spread in 8 Shots. I then got the WC II and decided I'd measure two magazines and see what I got. The first two or three shots measured 1100 FPS and then it settled down and ran in the 840-50 range. The shot spread was 22 FPS, not counting the first three shots. I then shot the second magazine and had a spread of 33 FPS in 8 shots.

I then went out to my steel and paper targets and had to make a lot of elevation changes on the scope for previously zeroed distances. Even after I reset the zero I would get a few in almost the same hole and then they started going all over the place. Here's what I can eliminate, I think. All the scope mounts are tight. I was about 200 bar after a fill to 240. Same gun. Same pellets. Tried what others suggested was creating accuracy issues with my Sniper and cleaned the barrel. Many shots through that thing and the cloth was barely dirty.

Why the absurd changes in velocity when I first started out? Why the large spreads in FPS after that? Are either or both of those related to the changing zero point?

I don't even know where to start. Think I'll got out in the morning and run it all again. I kind of hope it doesn't behave. If it works fine then, I will have not a clues what has caused these issues. Just in case you were wondering, I don't drink and even though Washington State is a Cannabis free state I wasn't smoking tobacco or Cannabis. Some might argue that mental health might be an issue...just kidding.. Thanks for your thoughts..

I had mine do same thing the orings went bad in regulator

OK take off stock . then drain air out of gun use a 3mm allen threw hole in center or crack brass bleed screw loose , when it is Empty remove bleed screw and install a spare gage their . refil gun with stock off . and shoot it and watch gage u will see what reg is doing if it creeps or sticks or leaks u can see it .

I however reccommend replacing it with a huma .they have less spread and less issues

Let me know your readings

I think you may be having Chrono problems too........I've never seen a crossbow even do 500fps let alone 900

Agree with BigTin. 400fps is fast for an arrow. I know crossbows have improved and I haven't followed the crossbow market but 900 seems unrealistic. Obviously this does not explain the troubles with your Wildcat though. Good luck.

That's why I added the "too".

With the FX reg issues, over filling the gun probably doesn't help it either. ("I was about 200 bar after a fill to 240.")

The crossbow is a Raven and I definitely have a memory problem not a problem with Chrono. It's a top of the line crossbow and even though I watched him shoot for an hour I wouldn't swear my reported speed was correct. I'll check with him today and post a correction or confirmation. I do remember commenting that if we both shot at the same target at the same instant, me with the WC2 and he with the bow, he would get there first.

I am thinking the reliable, Hah!, FX regulator is the culprit. Spend that kind of $$ on a rifle and the regulator going TU in less than a year is not acceptable. FX, move your heads to a brighter place in your anatomy and throw your garbage regulators away and install HUMA regulators. Eventually we FX owners will probably have to do it sometime in the future. However, the WC2 is the best shooter I ever had before I got the Taipan Veteran Shorty. Now it's a preference thing. I am a glutton for punishment. As soon as the bottle dreampup hits the streets, FX will get some more of my discretionary dollars.

Thanks for the attempts to help.
