Waterproof Cover for Target Frames

Hello everyone,

I have been covering my Target Frames with a 30-gallon plastic trash bag to protect them from the elements. I called several Canvas Shops to get a price on some Waterproof ( not water resistance ) Covers and the best price was $100.00 plus shipping. I got on the internet and found the Waterproof material and ordered 2-yards for $17.00 delivered, cut them to size and sewed them up. Now the Frames and Cardboard backing will stay dry in all weather conditions. Now when I am ready to shoot all I have to do is slip the Covers off and tape the paper target on the cardboard :)

Be safe and have a great day,
ThomasT

Looks good!! Hope the wind doesnt take them away!!

Hello AirShot

No problem there, this is Heavy Fabric with some sort of a rubber (?) coating on one side. The fit is also so close that it would take a lot of wind to get underneath to be able to lift it off.

I had perfect shooting conditions this morning, cool, no wind, overcast, but we have sever weather coming up from the South with heavy rains so they will get a good test in about 20-minutes.

Be safe and have a great day,

Very good, looks great. I’ve been thinking of fabbing up a rain hood for mine. We do a lot of shooting out of the house when it’s raining, and pretty much limited to shooting steel plates right now.

Hello Beau,

I purchased this material from Fabric Wholesale Direct and this would most likely work for you. However they had a bunch of various other materials that might also work.

You have a great idea about a "hood", guess I will have to start to work on a design.

Be safe and have a great day,

Not sure about pest control companies in your area? But you may want to inquire if they have scrap tarps they are going to throw out.

Hello IMADMAN,

What are the tarps used for?

ThomasT

Doh!!!! I forgot to mention pest control companies that specialize in tent fumigation. These are large waterproof tarps used to cover homes infested with drywood termites, then a gas is introduced to kill them.

Hey again IMADMAN,

I would think that canvas would be a lot heavier material and it would take a commercial sewing machine to sew it up.
