Warning ! Hikmicro Alpex 4k lite from Huma

I was happy when Huma Air got the Hikmicro 4k lite in stock last month and ordered one. First thing to bring me down was $142 UPS import
brokerage fee ( tariff) I didn’t have a big problem with this though as I support the leveling out of these fees to not only burn the US.
So i received the scope , wow to feel is impressive so lite yet feeling of well built. I charged and installed second battery and went about to
load Apple app , it doesn’t let you go far immediately says not available in your country.
I went through everything I could find. Getting a UK address that Apple recognises. No WAY. I bought anew ipad with no data and also signed up for Proton VPN that was recommended here and started out with a UK address. The farthest I got was Apple requesting a confirmation phone number that had to be in the UK. Googled and there is sites that these “ numbers” can be bought. It comes with risks says google. Anyway it never allowed me back there. Huma claims to have sought help from Hikmicro but none came. So I just shipped back after opening a claim with Paypal to get full ( with original shipping ) fee back. UPS stores cheapest was $200+ for shipping only, luckily I learned of Pirateship on here and got down to $68. Its not over yet as I don’t know what fees may come when it gets to Europe.
New to this hobby 8 months ago I have at least 6 orders with Huma
They should absolutely state that this device will not work in North America

Yeah it sucks but we know going in that Hikmicro is unwilling to support US sales. I'd love to try one, but no way am I jumping thru hoops to buy someone's products. Doesn't seem to make sense as the US market would seem to be substantial...who knows?
I had no idea it wasn’t for our market. My luck they will open the hikmicro sight app a month from now and ill want the scope again.

I was about to order this from Huma when I found this post. So this is a brick without the app? I saw poor reviews for the app on the Play Store, but wasnt aware that you could not use the scope itself to input and correct all parameters (like other digital scopes I've had) Nice to know about the UPS fees as well. Wasn't expecting that.

I will probably wait for the DNT 4k to come out.

still haven’t got any refund. I want to order a regulator from huma but no more business till this is resolved.
As soon as i sent back i figured Hikmicro would open up the US market and id have to buy again.

You could have downloaded the XAPK yourself and loaded it. Looking at it's permissions and data it collects I wouldn't touch it myself unless loaded on a device with no data/phone access. The august 7, 2025 2.6.8 update is out there for anyone to download, just have to know how to load XAPK's yourself. It's easy, look it up.

Well it’s too late for me. Unless Huma or HIKMICRO come out with instructions for use in the USA I wouldn’t buy.
I dont know what xapk is . It might be costly for someone to take the risk and buying from Europe at this time, paying
import duty and then have to ship back.
I did have this scope in hand though and its size and weight and finish is something i really wanted on a rifle

@blackdog899 , I wouldn't risk buying one either until someone had downloaded the software in a country where it is not officially allowed and installed it themselves. It very well may not work until it calls home to it's china masters. An XAPK is a multipart APK, and an APK is what the application software on android is called. There is lots of software that is banned in the U.S. since Putin started his war, and I don't know of any off the top of my head for android that doesn't still work, I'm sure there are some. One of the favorite ballistic apps of people on this board is an example, those that had it already it still works fine.

I have the app installed on my iPhone. I have 3 Hikmicro scopes, so it is imparative that I have it and it works correctly. I use it only to upload firmware updates to the scope and no other reason. Firmware updates have been very easy to do with the app. I add the profiles in the scope directly. I always (on all my digital scopes) turn the WiFi off to save battery life as I am usually out hunting for hours.

I have the iOS .ipk that I have taken out of the iPhone in case I have a problem and need to reload it. Don't have it on Android so I can't be of any help there.
