Wanting a HW (8

I am planning on ordering a HW 98. I find .22 cal rifles in stock, no .177. I do have an older .177 FWB 124, equipped with good aperature sights, so am wanting a break barrel for scope use, and I think this one fits the bill well, especially with the adjustable stock and buttplate, plus the ability to insall a moderator. I have one .22 cal side lever but find it a bit awkward to use, and honestly just like my breakbarrel. Any real advantage or disadvantage of the .22 over the .177 cal in this rifle.

I just got the HW98 .22 caliber from Krale. It’s very nice. I have the 97 and 95 also in .22 caliber and they just shoot the same hole. Got the 30 and 55 in .177 and they shoot the same hole. The .22 caliber is much friendlier outside than the .177. The .177 is in it’s own world indoors.

I have two HW95 rifles in .22. The HW95 has the same power plant as the HW98. I've been very pleased with both rifles. As a matter of fact one of them was originally a .177 but I went ahead and installed a .22 barrel on it. I'm planning on doing the same thing as you by putting peep sights on one of them and having the other for scope use.

As far as advantages of a .22 over the .177 it really depends on what you prefer. My air guns are for back yard target shooting at mostly reactive targets. I like the .22 because I enjoy getting a louder "clang" . No flies on the .177. My rifle shot very well with the .177 barrel. I still have that barrel in case I ever want to switch it back.

I have R9’s in .177 and .22, and a HW98 in .20. Basically the same rifles, different stocks and the shrouded barrel obviously. I could never get comfortable with my .177. Tuned it from 11fpe to 14.5fpe but just didn’t feel good to me. Much prefer them in .20 and .22. I think you made the right choice but others will and can disagree. I just today made some changes to one of the R9’s. Post to come. Enjoy that 98 when it arrives

I did place the order with Krale just this afternoon. Even with roughly $60 shipping it comes in about $90-100 than AOA. I have read of fantastic shipping and delivery from Krale also, so hoping to see it mid to late next week. I did place another order from AOA and it took almost a week for them to ship, and it is still stuck in a ups center in the Dallas area.. I don't know what it is but I have had excellent results with UPS international service, I ordered a watch from a dealer is Madrid Spain and had it in about 36 hours. in E Texas.

I have a 4-12x Vortex Crossfire scope I plan on trying, just hope it holds up to the springer.

jkingrph,

Got my first Krale gun last week. Saved $236 over Talon Tunes delivered price. Was not informed of the $66.99 import fees (Brokerage $12/Gov't. $54.99) till e-mail arrived from UPS. Paid UPS with credit card, they delivered next day. Three days total, Netherlands to Tampa. I'm sure you knew about import fees, just thought I'd mention, in case you hadn't. Best of Luck and enjoy the gun, WM

Yeah sounds like you got scammed to me. Never once got hit with any additional fees. May want to call your cardholder

Estarky paid the $66 duty fee, according to a thread in Dealer & Manufacturer Feedback section, I think title was, "Krale, other Dealers take Notice." or something similar. He also mentioned some Alphabet org forms he received, just like I did. Might be something new for 2022. I guess we'll find out from jkingrph. Heck of a scam, if it is one, had to be run by a UPS insider. If jkingrph isn't charged Import Fees, I'll be right on it. WM

Just checked credit card transaction summary and records indicate the $66.99 was paid to UPS on January 20. A search of merchant website goes directly to UPS. I know scammers are devious but this guy would take the cake for skillfully wrapping himself around and through UPS, even sending an official UPS receipt. I guess we'll see. WM
