So you want to go Turkey hunting with an airgun shotgun? Before you even think about patterning your gun thinking you're gonna take a gobbler with traditional shotgun lead shot, THNK AGAIN! I spent months last year testing airgun shotguns and their lethality potential as well as their patterning potential at given ranges and will tell you that #4 or #5 lead is NOT the way to go! In this video I go over the Air Venturi Seneca WingShot II and how you can boost your knock-down power (FPE), increase your range, and tighten up your shot patterns by using Tungsten Super Shot.

The WingShot II is an amazing versatile tool to have in your airgun arsenal as it can be used as a shotgun, or an arrow slinging airgun, or even shoot roundball. Ideally if you live in a state where hunting with arrow based projectiles for airguns, that would be the preferable method of take, but if you live in a state where they are not legal yet to use - you should really pay attention to the information in this video.

During this testing I was also able to show the FX Outdoors E-Z Shot Shooting Chair and will be doing a full review soon. I fricken LOVE this thing! During the Deer hunting season, I was able to test out the New FX EZ Shot Chair and immediately fell in love! Normally I hunt from a small tripod cloth stool with Primos Trigger Sticks tripod. A few things I have never liked about sitting on a stool was how high my profile is and having the legs of the tripod shooting sticks stick out so wide greatly diminishing my concealment while Deer hunting or Turkey hunting. The EZ shot chair fixes these issues by getting my seated position lower to the ground and the slightly reclined position is so much better on my back vs being hunched over for hours during a sit. The adjustability of the front gun rest functions just like the Trigger Sticks with fluid up and down movement.

Love this thing! Way to go FX Outdoors!

Thanks for the review. Been using my WS for a couple years rabbit hunting. I use both the AV precharge capsules in #6 and the empty capsules. I too spent a lot of shot and air trying to find a load that was good enough for squirrels. #4, 5 and 6 lead shot didn’t give enough performance. It was ok for rabbits within 20 yards. I did try using empty sabots instead of the AV capsules. But never found a good way to seal the ends. Teflon tape! I have some that is wider then the normal. Going to give a try tomorrow. I have tried some of the heavy shot. But wasn’t too impressed. For $65 a pound, you can buy the TSS off eBay. Still not sure about using the WS for turkey. But I will be doing some testing.

Nice work! I am going to get out for rabbits soon.

Great review. I watched the last years video on the AF rifle. Ill have to look into the regs hear in California more. Its says that Air rifles are allowed and must be at least .177 cal or larger so to me this would fit the bill to a T. This spring season Im going to start with my Escape to see how that works might have to switch up before end of season to traditional shotgun if it doesnt pan out. That wing shot looks pretty cool though.

I got some tungsten shot (whew!), and some green .430->.50 sabots. I was able to load about 180gr of pellets in the green ones, and stretch some teflon tape over, then around them. They still seem a little shaky!

I tested loading some of the tungsten #9 shot in my speers colt 45 long shot shells, and I get about 260gr in those!

So, based on that, I ordered some of the black .452->.50 sabots, I am going to try and stuff one of the speers shot shells into the sabot! If they fit and shoot well, they are pretty sturdy to load in your pocket, and maybe have a bit more shots per shell.

Just got my wingshot and ammo today, gonna test these green sabots tomorrow. I've got until April 20 to work this out for a turkey gun.

To note, yay for USPS, Fedex, and UPS, all delivery my ammo, gun, and sabots, from three different places, all on the same day, when they were ordered on the same day!

When you say shaky - like loose shot inside? I've tried those Snake Shot Speer cups and they break up the pattern too much in my testing and had to wind quite a bit of Teflon around the shot cup to upside it to .50. Keep me posted on your results!

On shaky it was more i only had some very thin and narrow teflon tape, and had trouble keeping some of them together while loading.

I got some 3.5mil thick 3/4" wide teflon tape yesterday and they seem to hold together a lot better. The initial few I shot were very promising tho! at 20 and 30 yards, every shot was putting at least 4-5 pellets in the red on the turkey target skull and spine outlines.

Upon review, I don't think I'll be able to put a .45 colt shell in the 45->50 sabot due to length. I should be able to get a a bit more shot in the black sabots tho, i ordered the smaller green ones first, they are smaller inside diameter than the black ones - which is opposite of what i heard in the video. The green ones I got are .430 ID and the black ones are listed as .452 ID. I do have some of the AV long shot shells...back ordered.

I'm pretty excited tho, I never had a shotgun before, and this TSS shot will let me go turkey, dove, and bunny hunting in places I really couldn't due to lead restrictions. Thank you for sharing!

AHA! You are correct! I had that backwards. The black ones will hold more shot than the greens. The guy I know who put me onto these told me the green ones were made to hold a larger slug, but the black ones hold the larger .452. I will try to edit that in the video. Thanks!

Almost as cheep to buy some target loads and cut them apart. Oh ya, I forgot ammo is outrageous. If you can get it. I have lots of old shotgun shells that I wouldn’t even use for targets. Makes good ones to cut apart.

A box of 5 TSS shells is like $40 which comes out to about 5 ounces of shot you could get from cutting the shells apart so buying shot loose is still the way to go. I can buy cheap recycled and cleaned lead shot from my local gun shop 25 pounds for the same price. LOL! But again, with Turkey hunting I plan to pull the trigger once the entire season and I want that one trigger pull to matter. Lead is for practice and good to get on paper when putting on a red dot before shooting a few TSS shots to confirm the pattern.

i hunt turkey here in the southern most part of alabama 3-5 miles from the gulf of mexico.

we are allowed to hunt turkey with airguns only with airbolts with broadheads larger than 7/8" in cutting diameter.

i use my WP tuned single tube dragon claw with AV airbolts with very good success.

just wondering, all here that uses the dragon claw...what bolt cocking position are you using ?

i use the first position (low power) and it will throw the arrow fast enough for a pass thru in the neck base area @ 30yrds. close to what my excalibur crossbow does.

i have not scored yet since the opener, but i got til may 2nd to change that !!

thanks for any info, i really appreciate it 🤘

I'm getting about 290gr of TSS shot into one of the AV long shot shells. It is getting a wider pattern at 25 yards than the 200gr sabot+teflon loads, but seems to be about as dense.

I plan to send it to Will Piatt after our turkey season is over. I wonder if some extra power will tighten up those 300gr patterns!

I sure wish we could use air bolts in Missouri!
