WALTHER TERRUS .22 Chrony work

After the complete tear-down and rebuild of my Terrus .22 I finally took time to do some Chrony work tonight. Four pellet types on test, 12 shots for each pellet type:

H&N Sniper Magnum .22 - 17.9 gr

  • High 589.2 fps, Low 563.6 fps, Ave 578.0 fps, ES 25.6 fps
  • producing in the neighborhood of 13 FPE as expected
  • smooth shot cycle once I modded the trigger for a sub-1 pound break

Crosman Ultra Dome .22 - 19.0 gr

  • High 534.6 fps, Low 519.0 fps, Ave 660.6 fps, ES 15.6 fps
  • producing in the neighborhood of 13 FPE as expected
  • much better consistency in shot speed/energy

Crosman Premier Dome .22 - 14.3 gr

  • High 668.6 fps, Low 655.0 fps, Ave 660.6 fps, ES 13.6 fps
  • best shot cycle of the pellets thus far tested though the

JSB Heavy .22 - 18.13 gr

  • High 572.8 fps, Low 551.1 fps, Ave 564.9 fps, ES 21.7

I, and no doubt others would really like to see accuracy testing of the Terrus, and a shot cycle comparison with other air rifles you may have. I ended up buying a Diana 34 but the Terrus was runner up. I do wonder how it compares to the 34. The Terrus has received may good reviews. Longevity, however, is an open question. Thanks for the data you've posted so far.

I've got both in .22...both are very accurate, but the 34, with the 16" UTG scope, is slightly more accurate. I have developed the belief that the length of the focal plane of the scope is a factor in accuracy, but the Terrus is heeled with the 11" UTG compact scope. What helped quite a bit with accuracy is muzzle weight. It was shotgunning when I removed the front sight, quit doing that when I replaced it. Then I installed a Hatsan air stripper, and that made a slight difference when I got it adjusted.
