Walther LGU Master in Beech 22 cal Owners please chime in.

Need some help from other Air gunners familiar with this one .

Just bought a NIB Walther LGU Master Beech 22cal. and wanted to ask if any tips ie they make a a couple spring tune kits from Vortex or just leave it alone clean barrel and shoot it . Any ideas for scopes to pair with this rifle. Any pellet recommendations welcome as well . I have some JSB and the Hades to try .

I own the LGV in .22. Practically the same gun, but break barrel. Mine has not been altered. Shoots the Hades as well as regular JSBs. 

I did install a Vortek in my .177, but it’s not a drop kit, had to cut original guide. 

I recently did a POI 30 day challenge with it, here’s the link https://youtu.be/f_zRgd4LYPk I used the 18gr JSBs. 

Another thing I did was to remove the muzzle weight and added an LDC, but not sure if this is an option on the LGU. Will edit if I remember anything else.

I have owned two, still own one. Owning Weihrauch, Air Arms, and Diana spring powered guns, I don’t think you will find an out-of-the-box rifle any more smooth or accurate than the LGU Master. I have several custom tuned rifles and truthfully can’t imagine any kind of tuning kit will benefit you very much.


I used Vortek Diamondback 6-24x50 FFP and Hawke AirMax series scopes on mine with great success.

What is the rotary piston? Anyone have pics of the internals of this airgun?

it looks very similar to the TX200 series

I only have one springer. It’s an LGU with a beech stock in .22. I have never shot another springer. 


I LOVE IT!!!


She likes JSB and 12 grain alloy pellets. I haven’t tried others.

I would part with one of my RAWs before letting her go.

Mine likes JSB 13 best, the JSB 14 grains a very close second. It’s a delight to shoot.

Left mine alone except added some baffles in the LDC. H&N FTT pellets works best for me. It also likes the Crosman 14 gr pellets but they are inconsistent. If they fit snug in the breech they fly straight but if they are loose they fly off target.

I bought one a couple of months ago, and right out of the box it was perfect, needed nothing. In a little while, it developed some twang and vibration, so I applied some Tune In A Tube which solved that problem. A bit later, the twang/vibration returned, some more TIAT, gone, and still gone. Simply an outstanding rifle.

Has any one changed out the trigger for a metal one? Rowan Engineering sells them . The Euro versions of this gun are metal triggers but something about complying with US drop tests rules all US guns have the composite triggers! I am trying not to turn down that boulevard " trying to fix something that isn't broke".

I did it on my LGV Master Pro .177. Wish I hadn’t messed with it. Frankly, the Original trigger had just settled in nicely by the time I did it. To be fair, I was probably the one that messed up. Trigger works now, but it’s kinda stiff. Like I said, my fault. It really looks nice though

The rotary piston means there's no slot cut into the piston for the cocking shoe.

That way the piston is free to rotate during the shooting cycle.

I have one LGU and one LGV. One has the Rowan trigger and the other has a modified stock trigger. Both are excellent and I'm glad I did them.

The stock trigger n mine is purty dern good. No plans to fart with it, although if I have it tuned, I'm sure the tuner will take a peek at it.

I have the 177 version and see no reason to mess with it. Smoothest out of the box I've experienced. Every bit as accurate as my TX and more pleasant to shoot, so I traded off my TX.

I put the Rowan trigger on mine as I found the stock one a bit heavy. It does NOT feel as good as the TX trigger but it is VERY good now. Very happy with mine as is now.
