Walther LG400 Field Target questions

I own the LG400 10 meter version and an Anschutz9003 10 meter.
Both are a dream.
Is there anyway you could check your LG 400 and see if it has this weird hole in it. it looks like a factory defect and this is already the second one they’ve sent me that had something wrong. Kind of concerned cause I can tell when you pull the Charging handle back there’s a weird catch feeling like a spring getting snagged. It feels like it’s hanging up on something. The pictures are from when I turn the rifle and look from the bottom up into the trigger area and above the trigger there’s a weird it looks like a defect in the metal.

I have my cocking lever flipped, so it opens when i push down, closes when I pull up. That change is very nice in my opinion. I think it feels better opening on the down stroke for sure.
The first 1/4 of the stroke has a little drag, then it hits a resistance/loads and breaks, then the rest of the pull is like the first quarter of the stroke. Closing is smooth. Easy to call it clunky. I could see calling my LG400 trigger defective due to the loading in the middle of the cocking stroke, but it has been that way for years.

The Anschutz trigger has no drag, and only a click at the end of the stroke. The 9003 trigger is not the 5018 trigger from the 54 target line. My older Anschutz 2002CA did have the 5018 trigger. It is a close call, but both the Walther LG400 and Anschutz 9003 triggers are better than the famous 5018 trigger. If you are near PSU in Centre County, you are welcome to test mine out.

As I recall, my LG400 is the "expert" in an aluminum stock.
I think that black dirt like stuff is plastic from the new grip I just installed. I went a size bigger with a new grip.

Mine has a hole if you look past that spring in your photos, mine has a very irregular looking worn jagged hole. im talking about any load felt on the cocking arm I’m talking about an actual snagging point where it feels like someone running a sharp edge across spring that makes a distinct sound afterwards .

can you peak just pass that spring and see if there’s a worn in hole?

I really appreciate the offer, but I live really far southern California. I’m desperate to try the thing out. The last one i never even got to attach the air cylinder. I bought a bunch of little goodies as little upgrades for it . I almost feel like I’m just gonna write it off as nothing and go ahead and start putting on all the little special parts I bought for it. Im gonna add the absorber, the quick fill adapter kit , raised scope rail and whatever scope i have laying around until the one i ordered for it arrives. Thanks for your input.

Mine has a hole in the center under the spring. My spring looks lighter too? My set screw behind the trigger is nearly flush, yours seems to be out a few threads.
Mine is the match version, and has a very light pull, I guess 4 ounces.
I guess you can see the hole in mine. I had to move the trigger blade. It has two rails to mount the blade.

Thanks man I really appreciate it a lot. It’s awesome of you going out of your way to take pictures of your air rifle for me and inspecting it and stuff. I got the QuickFill adapter attached. I haven’t put on the shorter lever that’s made for the LG 500 but I did buy one. I haven’t put in the absorber yet because I wanna take the first couple shots and make sure it actually functions before I do anything with the internals that might void the warranty and it would be nice to see if the absorber has any perceivable improvement. I’m probably gonna try the long handle turned around like you suggested and then try the short handle both ways before I come to any final conclusion on that part of the setup.IMG_1497.jpegIMG_1498.jpeg

I took a look in my LG400 and found it was just like yours. There is definitely a spot that looks worn or like a defect right behind that spring. I guess it must be some remnant of the manufacturing process. Here is a photo of how it looks on mine. It doesn't seem to have any ill effects. My rifle works perfectly.

I took the stock off and the jagged hole is actually created when they make the threaded holes for the screws that hold the stock on . It doesn’t look like it would affect anything. There is nothing below the stock screws inside the action. I also fitted the magnetic absorber weight. I didn’t like the shorter lg500 handle. I tried it both ways but the original factory handle turned around like you suggested actually feels better.
