I have been squirrel hunting with my Daystate Huntsman Regal XL in .22 cal. It is a laser and at 30 FPE is is very capable of taking the little critters, but a head shot is not the always the high percentage hit shot, so I'll take a heart/lung shot at times. Little buggers can be pretty freaking tough sometimes and even with a good hit, they manage to drag the their little wounded butts off into a hide. I decided to get real with them and took my Impact .30 cal out a couple of times and it is DEVASTATING on them. Nailed so hard to the ground their buddies couldn't even drag them off. Well the Impact is set up for bench shooting and is heavy in that configuration, so I was wanting something lighter. I have always been one to choose a traditional looking sporter first but nothing on the market really was tripping my purchase finger. Have not been a fan of the bullpup looks, but the more I looked at the Wildcats in walnut the more I liked it. Well in person it meets all my expectations. It's going to be a great hunter. Feels light, shoulders great, could almost shoot it one handed with all the weight in the rear. Color me impressed! Out of the box it is shooting 46gr pellets at 890fps and typical FX accuracy. I put a 2.5-15 x 50 scope on it which I thick will be perfect for hunting. The stock has some figure in it. I may do some finish work in it to get the grain to show better. I like my Walnut & Iron.
