They will never fare as well as a good dome at 50 yard. A poor ballistic coefficient means they get pushed by the wind big time. It also means they shed velocity like mad which means a more pronounced trajectory which means more sensitive to ranging error and cant error.
With that said, it can be fun and challenging if you adjust your expectations. For example I have a couple of guns that will group RWS Meisterkugelns and RWS Supermags at 1-2 MoA out to 30 yards. That is as good a result as I’ve found in my 7 years of airgunning. When I stretch them out to 40 - 50 yards, the groups open up to 4 - 6 MoA. Getting a good read on the wind is critical and part of the fun.
