does the vulcan have to be cocked or uncoked while making adjustment on the hst? How far in or out is your gun set?

Uncocked Barbarian, every hammer spring adjuster is going to be different but it seems like flush to inset 1/8" is a normal range. Just what ever it takes to get the velocity you desire, within limits of course.
