Neil,

With all due respect if you really read everything on my last 3 or so posts you would understand I'm not beholden or defending them at all. I'm not loyal to AoA and it's rather easy to understand many of the grievances folks have with them. I'd rather break it down in a more factual, non-emotional way by saying their business practices are pretty normal for a company who is aggressive in their market. Capitalism is great just like freedom of speech, but you have to take the good with the bad. I'm simply saying AoA has some good and some bad and I'd rather people speak with their wallet instead of all the posts on many forums the last few years. If AoA goes out of business tomorrow I wouldn't give a rats ass, but I'm not going to bash their current business practices.

I agree 100% with Scott_MCT. The only bad part in any business is when the wholesaler competes with the retailer. I did notice AOA is starting it's wholesale operation under another name next door. Maybe that will help all those guys that have to mail order. It will free up employees to handle more customers and their problems. I can say that walk in service has been nothing less than stellar with my AOA dealings. They are a great group of guys no matter who I dealt with from the owner to the newest guy. I also think that if a customer has a problem they have every right to vent bash etc. Let the people reading the post make their own judgement. I have called people out on things I felt were wrong and I have tried to help others with problems and I have complemented people on doing an excellent job. That is what a forum should do without threats or censoring, if it doesn't it will go the way of the brightly colored forum and people will lose interest and move on.

I have never had bad service or packing best pellet packaging in the world from pyramyd air ! And buy 3 get one free ! You will never see aoa do that! Coupons ever see aoa have any not me! Ever order on line from aoa are you kidding me its like your stuck in 1995 !!! Come on aoa! If i want ten tins of pellets i dont need to call the store let me order online its 2016 ! I just dont like the price fixing they do here in america when you look outside america and stuff is cheaper you get the whole taipan mutant nightmare 1400 here 500 around the world!!!

Ambush sniper I have edited my response in respect of the forum owner here, I think you are totally ignorant of the facts, judging by what you have said about me, I have not and never will get posting rights back on the yellow forum, so please get your facts right in future. My turnaround times are my business, not yours so please do not concern yourself with them, again this statement was obviously made out of lack of knowledge or ignorance of the facts, have a good day, Neil.

Thanks to whoever moderated out the ad hominem attacks by one of the members against Neil and PA which served no purpose and added zero value to the constructive conversation ongoing. There is a difference between censorship and moderation. I give the Moderator +1 for accuracy.

Thanks Scott and AZBobcat for your insights...may not agree with all of them but there is a lot to think about.

"Scott_MCT"Neil,

With all due respect if you really read everything on my last 3 or so posts you would understand I'm not beholden or defending them at all. I'm not loyal to AoA and it's rather easy to understand many of the grievances folks have with them. I'd rather break it down in a more factual, non-emotional way by saying their business practices are pretty normal for a company who is aggressive in their market. I'm more of a communist man than a capitalist. Communism is the one where they give you free ice cream right? Or is that socialism....

Just out of curiosity, which business practices are you saying are normal and an extension of their rights to free speach in a capitalist society? I am assuming you mean their exclusivity agreements and not their policies or practices for customer service?

Going after a business advantage is certainly something that companies do. As far as I can tell, almost all of the importers are also airgun retailers who compete with the retailers they supply. PA does this for the brands they import although I don't believe they restrict pricing discounts for other retailers in the same way. They aren't always the cheapest. The practice of price fixing is not 100% normal or capitalist. It is specifically illegal in many or most capitalist economies. If you do it in a group they call you a cartel.

I do know that, based on some non-airgun experience I had, manufacturers do set minimum prices for all retailers in some cases. It might not be AOA's policy. Sony, as an example, restricted price discounts on many of their products as part of their brand strategy. Perhaps FX or Daystate does the same to keep up appearances. They can't have their stuff going for half price at a garage sale or we wouldn't want it anymore...

Zebra,

Been a long day for a Friday 😜.

Business practices that are normal: securing deals with manufacturers which insure you are the sole dealer or representative for a product. Excersizing your contractual rights when you feel the manufacturer did not adhere to the contract. If a contract fixes a price this is capitalism. Price fixing without a legally binding contract is illegal. With a contract it is totally legal, Apple is a perfect example. Whomever AoA signed with feels it insures them better market penetration using AoA. Whether this is a good business decision will be determined by the results that follow, but it is a normal business practice to LOCK those deals. People may not like it, but in reality AoA MAY be the reason FX DayState and others had the R&D money to bring to market what we are seeing now because sales otherwise may not have been predictable enough to allow company owners to fork over the R&D $$. As a business manager this is my opinion based off my experience. Been at the same job 23 years so all I can say is what I tell anyone who asks why do we or they do it this or that way? Follow the dollar and it will answer all your questions.

to be fair, if we are to discuss AOA's monopoly on 2 air gun brands in question, then lets talk about other dealers too that have set up import monopolies of their own on brands they offer.

Essentially, these laws prohibit business practices that unreasonably deprive consumers of the benefits of competition, resulting in higher prices for products and services. The three major Federal antitrust laws are: The Sherman Antitrust Act. The Clayton Act.Dec 18, 2015

I agree new dealer start-ups don't get a chance at fair competition with these current import monopolies set in place. Making 100 dollars on a gun before shipping while the importing monopolist dealer marks up the gun by as much as 1000 dollars is an unfair trade.

If a contract fixes a price this is capitalism. Price fixing without a legally binding contract is illegal.

Scott, this is not capitalism. This is really crony ganster capitalism that big business and Wallstreet have lobbied to protect their special interests, so they have no competition. It is still illegal, and equals to the same thing as two gas stations across the street agreeing on fixing their prices at the pump, only now they have generated a binding contract, rather then a handshake like in the old days. On the second note, try filing a claim in court, no judge will even look at it because the whole system is serving special interest of big business, and nothing more.

I think you may have the misunderstanding that I agree with all this? Some of it I don't but it is what it is and after working for a huge world wide corporation for the last 23 years I've seen all the stuff AoA does a million times over. The other retailers have the abulity to make deals which benefit them as well, I just think AoA did it better and the others are now whining about it.

Guys I am not one of AOA's favorite people but I do agree with Scott, these attacks on AOA have gone on for long enough now on the forums. It would be great if we could get back to doing what the forum was intended, talking air guns. There is a dealer feedback section for leaving negative feedback for dealers if anyone has a legitimate complaint so maybe we should get off the politics now and get back to our hobby and chat air guns. I have my opinions on what is going on but maybe it is time to let politicians deal with politics and if any of us feel strongly about this then act on your feelings and opinions using our discretion on where you buy from. I would hate to see this become a big political theater like another forum did not too long ago, it caused a big rift between members and between some members and the owner. Lets move on guys and start to enjoy air gunning and forget all the nasty crap that goes on, deal with that with your ability to choose who you buy from, I have, all the best, Neil,

Thanks Scott and by the way for some reason I got you mixed up with another good customer of mine Scott Siedler, so if any of my responses seemed a bit weird to you it is because I thought I was responding to someone else so some of your posts appeared strange to me, my apologies, that is what happens when you have a big customer base and a few customers with the same or similar names. Glad to hear the LDC is working well for you, a lot of customers do not know this but as long as you own the LDC you ordered from me I will refinish it for you one time for no cost, you just pay for return shipping, all the best, Neil.
