Vulcan Gen 4 Vs. Vulcan 2

BOTH are a great choices. One thing I like about my Vulcan2 is the way they secure the barrel to the action. There are 12 set screws that hold the barrel firmly, where as the gen 4, as you call it, is being held by a clamping design. The air tube on the Vulcan2 can be removed just by loosening the two screws at the rear, where as the gen 4, you have to loosen the clamp bolts and then loosen the two screws at the rear.

Gen 4 is smaller/ lighter 👍

V2 cocking lever has a detent so it will stay open while switching mags. Gen 4 you need to hold it open with one hand (not a big deal)

V2 can be had all the way up to .30 cal.

Gen 4 topped out at .25 cal.

When the V2 was announced I was excited...until I found out it was heavier and longer.

Not sure why they went longer without offering a compact version like Taipan and Edgun do.

Here's my gen 4 .25 cal.

Yes, good info above. I have both, gen4 in .25 Tactic and .30 in Vulcan2 Tactic. Both great guns and as accurate as can be. I'll add that the Vulcan2 has much better magazines that are easier to change out rapidly, a longer barrel and pressure tube, improved regulator (not that the gen 4 was bad, just the Vulcan2 is even better), Improved cocking mechanism (gen4 had an internal piece that tended to break when you used the gun hard), more solid barrel mount, easier removal of pressure tube for maintenance or tuning, fatter shroud, and a few more I'm forgetting. However, I like both guns and you can't go wrong with either… Gen4 is slightly lighter (V2 has longer barrel and pressure tube).

Airgun Technology does a great job of keeping the Vulcan up to date, taking owner feedback and technological advances and incorporating them into an amazing bullpup. As a result, the following improvements are new to the Vulcan 2:

  • Longer barrel than Vulcan1 500cm CZ barrel
  • Longer reservoir than Vulcan1 300 cc.
  • Better trigger internals than Vulcan1
  • Better safety than Vulcan1
  • New improved sound moderator over Vulcan1
  • New improved external power adjuster
  • Now newly designed aluminum magazines
  • Biathalon Lever
  • 500mm CZ Barrel
  • Weight 7 lbs 7oz
  • OAL 29.75 inches
