Vulcan annoying quirk

Hi airgunners,

i have a gen 4 vulcan bullpup .22 cal. absolutely love this tack driver. the one thing that annoys me is having to hold the side lever to the rear in order to remove the magazine. i have limited use of my right hand so, makes it clumsy to remove the mag. is there a fix? maybe a lighter spring on the lever that pushes the probe forward?

One AA rifle I had required the same thing. Never cared for that feature.

I went back to the bolt type lever because the same thing . id like to know if there's a fix also ?

I have a vulcan # 2 in 177 caliber, I do not have to hold my cocking lever back to load or unload a magazine, Mine just cocks back all the way. 

Maybe someone has a picture of the 2 and see if there is a difference.

I have the same problem with my bolt action Daystate Huntsman. I have to “play around with” the bolt tension to get the mag in or out.

Isn't that just not a feature to prevent the magazine from dropping out?

I read somewhere i dont remember where that a magnet on the side lever should do the trick but i wasn't able to get it done, but if you hold your gun slightly up the sidelever stays all the way back so you could change the magazine

What I did to mine was to unscrew the cocking lever from the round cylinder, around the barrel, and screw it counter clockwise until it stayed back.

Can you post a picture. I would like to see how you did this because I cant picture it. Sorry but I'm a visual person and don't get it until I see it.

Your right it is annoying, but I just figured it was me. It is such a great gun, I just accepted it. Never considered a fix. I would like to see a visual on that also.

What about drilling a small hole and adding a spring and pin. In the rear mount there's room, one could master mind this. It would work as a bolt lock, just pull the bolt back. Then pushing down the pin using the return spring pressure to hold the pin down. Locked open. To open. Then simply pull back on the cocking lever. The pin would pop up. Wali 

One hand pull and push the pin down. One hand pull back on slack the pin would pop up.

Scott, I was looking at the picture you posted. Could a person add a second threaded roller bolt behind the action cam on the pellet bolt. Then you may be able to remove the spring that resets the cam. When the bolt was pushed forward the new roller would push the cam into it normal location .

this is how i fixed this quirk. after 1500 pellets, works perfect.

My gen 3 still has the bolt style setup. No issues with not being able to keep the bolt back having that notch/catch to lock it open.
