Vulcan Advice Requested.

Hey guys, pretty sure I’m getting a Vulcan next in .22. Have never owned or shot one. Any thoughts, advice, suggestions, warnings, issues, etc would be appreciated.

I’m not interested in .25 right now. It is either the Cricket bullpup or Vulcan. Which one? Why? (I own a Cricket Mini Carbine) If it’s a Vulcan, bullpup or tactic? Why?

Vulcan accessories? What are the must haves? What kind of rail adapter is needed?

Looking forward to your advice. Thanks!

Great gun, side lever is highly recommended, if buying new clean that barrel, if you can, watch Ernest’s video about polishing barrels with the 3m fabric, although that isn’t strictly required I feel that the CZ barrel benifits from the procedure. It needs a silencer. Atlas make a drop in pic rail for the slotted rail in the fore grip.

I have two, both in bulpup and in .22. One has a hand picked stock and has all the springs dampened and all trigger links are in polished metal, a touch of moly and it’s super slick to cycle. One has a huma reg, this gives me an extra 11 shots over the standard reg, I feel that the huma is marginally tighter in ES at 115 bar than the stock reg at 120, but that’s just me and my fixation with 850 FPS .

My friend swears by his cricket compact, but bought a sidelevered Vulcan after witnessing the smooth action, the ergonomics of the side lever, the spring loaded mag and the guns ability to regularly shoot 1 inch at 100yards with unsorted 18 grain Jsbs at 855fps. (Indoors)

I shoot every day, and have well over 18000 rounds through the barrel, I have changed the barrel inner and outer orings, resurfaced the regulator piston Delrin seat and the gun shoots as well as ever.

To temper this little endorsement I must add that I own an Impact in .177 and .22, I have a .25 crown on backorder and my favourite gun to look at is my Impact!

If the Vulcan had the shot count and reg consistency of the Impact it would be perfect, huma reg gets me 99 shots and good ES, but 99 shots isn’t 136 from the Impact.

95% of my everyday shooting is with the Vulcan...

P.S. no gun at this or similar price point is perfect, however the walnut Crown seems to be very compelling because of its price compared to the Vulcan, pity the Crown is a long gun...

@riazp Thanks. It will be a sidelever. It will be clean and polished by Charlie from GA Airguns. You say you have 2, one in bulpup and one in .22? (I thought a bulpup is avialable in .22) confused here. I will probably keep the stock reg until it needs to be replaced. I don't worry so much about shot count etc. I am more concerned with accuracy, shootability, and reliability. I was looking for thoughts on Tactic model vs Bulpup model. Thanks again for taking the time.

No Problem,

I have two Bulpups, both in .22...the intent was to sell the first one as the second one came with the bling stock and dampers and polished internals, I ended up turning the first gun into a test bed for different reg configs, valve tensions, speed and hammer balance tests.

The tactic and bulpup are essentially the same gun with different stocks, I just have a preference for short guns that have a good center of mass, for me the tactic was too front heavy, some view this as a positive

@Oregun I like the idea of the WC. Love the looks. I know that they are the Cat's Meow. BUT.... until I have time and learn how to fix and mod my own guns and while Charlie is in business I will buy my main guns from him. He is local to me and I can be at his place in just over an hour. I had bought a Compatto from a very popular vendor that will remain un-named (Starts with an A and ends with an A) and the prospect of sending the gun back to them to fix something that my gut told me was not broken would have cost me $75 in shipping. I will buy some springers soon from them as well as PA, but no PCPs. Except for maybe a Regal. I almost bought that one I think you picked up in the classifieds. I already have the Cricket Mini that I got from GA. I will look into updating that post in the coming days if I can. Thanks for all the advice.

"intenseaty22"@Brian.in.MI I suppose I deserve that! I will have to admit that it took me a second (or two) but I got it. Solid Vulcan advice for sure. Thanks. Still waiting for you to ship me that .25 Cricket.
You’re welcome! Cricket is ready to ship. Just need your address and $3000.00 plus shipping and 3% PayPal. Deal? Hehe

Tactic vs Bulpup,

there are a few pieces that are shorter and the shroud is longer on the tactic. While technically possible, it is unfeasable to change stocks...

IMHO you can’t go wrong with either, but if you can shoulder the rifle, it’s the only way you will know what is the right fit for you.

my buddy almost got the tactic, but I talked him out of it because I have a preference for short guns, not because it is better

Is the shot count the same on both the Tactic & Bullpup?
