Vote - most unreliable gun

This is the 2nd edition of this thread, being that many have discussed various rifles to me since the last one was posted.



This is not what is the worst gun, but rather most unreliable. What gun has little reliability for you?

Honestly dude, all of mine have been very reliable. Reason being, because of this forum. Alot of good positive and negative feedback on here for people to be smart with their money and decision. Sooooo Im not really sure? I’ll sit back and see what others say

I was just sitting here thinking the same thing. 

Mentally was going through the brands that I've either owned or tested (Daystate, Brocock, Taipan, Weirhauch, Crosman/Benjamin, RTI, BSA, FWB. JSAR) and realizing I haven't really had problem children amongst any of those. I'm not saying there aren't reliability issues (because it seems like there's always a member or two trying to work through a problem gun).. Dunno if I'm lucky or if it's simply because I avoid the ones that I hear about being problematic.

FX Cyclone for me. Lots of cheesy brass parts that ate themselves. And the trigger was the flimsiest thing ever, the "sear wheel" thing wasn't cut right and the trigger bar was threaded so oversized that the set screws just rattled out.

that was my thread also, but that isn’t this thread, as this thread is not worst gun but rather most unreliable. If you want to vote for a gun vote for a gun.

I own a .22 Independence that I purchased new in May of 2014. Over 45,000 pellets later I’ve cleaned the barrel a few times, and replaced the breech seal and cleaned the trigger assembly as needed. The main pivot bushing in the pump handle was replaced once. That’s all the rifle has ever required and it still shoots incredibly well. Crazy good!!

I will be the first to tell you that I know very little compared to most here, probably yourself included. Please forgive me if I came off rude somehow.

I have been shooting airguns for over 50 years, I have owned guns from the very cheap to the very expensive and my expectation of reliability changes as the price increases. If a cheap springer chews through a breech seal every 500 shoots I merely shrug my shoulders and change it. If a 2k pcp blows a breech seal o ring every 500 shots, I change it while shouting obscenities.

I have come up with a formula that seems to hold true for most pcps 

where P = parts, O = o rings, C = cost , U = unreliability and F = frustration then... 

.P x O x C = U the higher the U value the higher the F factor


For example a theoben rapid mk1

50x5 x500 =125,000 =



FX impact

500 x 50 x 2000 = 50,000,000 =

I’ve been lucky and only had an issue with my streamline(leaking reg) and it was fixed under warranty. Other then that I’ve been pretty good. Now compressors is another story!
