I only heard one pcp gun so far, being new to the sport. So my vote wont weigh much. My Max 357. I had no idea it was so loud when I bought it. I have to run a chop saw when my neighbors landscapers are cutting his lawn on Fridays to use it for 30 mins, so not to draw attention. I am waiting now for my AEA HP in 22 to get here anyday to really enjoy the sport.
Did you ever look into getting a Donnfl to quite it down?

I would vote for a 1000+ ft lb custom Texan that was brought to an event in Texas. It was centerfire loud but other than that, I've shot the Slayer and Bushbuck and been around the Big Bore event at EBR and would say that they are not as loud as my Career 707 in 22 on low power when I first got it... painfully loud and I was much younger then. At least some creative soul figured out a way to get the power to a useable and tolerable level. This was mid nineties and it was 80 ft lb with a 31 gn pellet and even shot the 40 gn rimfire slugs of that era for you that think power began with FX. I'm sure the other Korean rifles are similar.
Honorable mention goes to the Thomas HPX, though. It was quite nasty in a couple of events I attended but we were all in close proximity, so maybe it just SEEMED like it.

Interesting thread... I like QUIET...

My experience is limited compared to many of you all but of the airguns I’ve shot, the HP max took the cake for putting a hurt on my ears. Short barrel, 4500 psi fill, no baffles…

I wonder if the OP was getting detonation / diesel effect or (given how loud) maybe a crack due to supersonic pellets? Almost every time I’ve been surprised by an unusually loud shot out of an air gun it’s been due to something breaking the speed of sound.

My .357 power tuned Benji Bulldog. So loud without Donny Ronin that ear plugs or muffs are required. Sounds like a firearm .30-06. Honorable mention goes to the .22 Thomas HP-X that Steve M shot at the Oct 2020 TexTreme Benchrest. It was so loud no one would shoot with him.
That's funny because I specifically came to this thread to see if someone would mention a braked Thomas HPX, yep it's confirmed :p

For me, the Sheridan EB pistol proved just too loud for home use, even when compared to Crosman pump pistols. Probably due to its shorter, low friction barrel releasing the pellet too quickly before exhausting all the gas. Its venerable big brother Sheridan C at 17ftlbs would go off like a Rimfire on 8 pumps but would do both sides of a rats shoulders at 8 yards.
