Vortex Viper PST Gen II Scope Question

"socaloldman"I have a viper 6x24 FFP and it stops at 50 yards. Can get it to 40 yards but must drop power down to 6X. I doubt you will get focus at full power. Such wonderful glass so I just use it on a long range gun.
Hi Nick,
Thanks for the speedy reply.
Yes, I assumed I’d have to be at low power, but wanted to know if I could achieve a clear picture at a little less than “mininum parallax”. Sounds like I can. Cool.
Ive got several SWFA single power scopes, but am looking for something different. Would like to try a FFP variable power, and also go a step up the scope food chain.

I don't know what you intend to mount it on or your shooting preferences and intended use so I will keep it general. I have 3 SWFA FFP 3-15-42 mil/Mil. I have 4 vortex vipers , one gen 1 and 3 gen 2 all FFP Mil/Mil including 2-10x , 3-15x and 5-25x. I like both brands but they are in different brackets as to functions, costs, quality, clarity. Each of them are excellent choices in their respective price brackets.

I use the SWFAs on bullpups because of their small form factor and lower weight. I use the Viper gen 2s on RAW HM1000x .25 and .30 due to their great reticle designs for shooting in wind and their vastly superior turret design and functionality. I use the smaller 2-10xs on a Leshiy and a Taipan Vet Shorty. Do I think the vortex vipers are worth the extra bucks? In a word - yes! The vortex are especially a good value when purchased during sales like this week's Memorial Day sales at various stores.

I have the scope you’re interested in on my new .30 Impact X. It focuses well 3x to 12x at 15yds. I think sharpness drops off just a tad at 15x. I love the scope and have no complaints on any of it’s features. Photo is during a 100yd zeroing in yesterday. It’s a DonnyFL shroud and Ronin. That’s a Kubota attachment in the background, not a part of the Viper.

"LDP"Terry I see you already ordered it but I have two of those scopes and they are great. If you are a veteran you can get a big discount thru vortex. I know you already ordered it but if you are a veteran I am willing to bet they will give you a refund for the difference of full price and the vet discount.

Hi Leland,
I appreciate the heads up. I'm not a veteran, but if there's others reading that are, it could help save them some money.
Thanks
