Vortex Venom and Chromatic Aberration ?

Crazy how many people know this guy personally.

I don't have anything against him and I think his videos are entertaining but I don't use sponsored videos to form opinions on products. He states that he is an Arken "affiliate" so it would be against my better judgement to make a call based on his opinion in this instance.

Will be interested to hear from any owners who can confirm or deny if the sight picture actually looks like that. On a $700 scope, I highly doubt it.

Couple owners in the comments say he's full of it.

Actually, quite a few comments alude to exactly what you are saying!
It makes me wonder if his video is biased!
I know the Arken is a good scope, but I did NOT know the Vortex was such a bad scope!
I'd say again, the chances that Vortex puts out a $700 scope with a sight picture that looks like that are slim to none. They wouldn't sell another scope to whoever bought it. I've done my share of video editing and it sure looks like an effect to me.

Yall could be right. It would be hard to believe he is not biased against vortex. Given the content of some of his other videos. However. He could have legitimately got a bad scope. Vortex could have knowingly sent him a bad one to make him seem like a fool. Or it could be user error. I'd like to think it's not intentionally misleading. But any of it is possible.

It could be that his camera doesn't play well with the specific concave or other glass characteristics of this scope as well but if so you would think that he would make a comment that it only looks like that when there's a camera looking through it. We will never know unless we hold the exact same scope he's holding, so we will never really know. I do know that I have formed my own opinion which is that he is very likely intentionally misrepresenting the sight picture because it benefits the manufacturer he is affiliated with and gets people talking when he presents things that way.
