Hey Guys

Looking at Vortex Golden Eagle that will go on dedicated bench gun, I'm a sucker for big magnification and anything below max magnification x32 is no go for me.

I own Nikko stirling diamond 10-50x60 and Leupold competition 45x45 (from my old days of shooting FT) and love the glass on those scopes , so will like to get something with similar glass or better

Anyone have any experience with this scope ?

I think it is a great scope. I believe @stoti uses one an really likes it as well. 

It is one of my favorite scopes in the high mag variety for several reasons. The price/performance being number 1.

I have owned several Sightron SIII scopes which are cheaper, but I don’t think they are as clear or bright, and I don’t care for their reticles. I am not big in the center dot for SFP scopes. The Sightron SV however is as nice optically as the Vortex, but becomes as expensive, but much heavier, and has the same reticles. 

I tried the Delta as well, and it also was very nice optically, but did not like the tiny reticle, and again it is huge. 

The Vortex is lightweight for what you are getting and is optically very nice. The side focus is nicer than a SIII, but none can compare to the SV. I sold it because I am not a fan of the GE reticle either... again the dot. But the GE is easier to get behind than the SIII. 

I had a S&B that was nice, but wasn’t close to twice as nice. I have never tried the NF Comp because I liked the Vortex so much at almost half the price. That being said, I am considering trying out a NF BR to compare.

Sure I sold it, but I am extremely close to getting another one! You can get one used or a refurb with full warranty for $900-1100 and new for around $1200-1250. The crosshair reticle can be had as low as $900 but the ECR is usually around $1100 used.

The Nightforce BR 12-42x56 is excellent scope way underrated they have 2 different reticle’s NP-R2 is probably the one you would want 2 things that dissuade buyers is SFP only and objective end parallax adj., (exactly what I like) I had one yrs ago on center fire Br gun and loved it! Thought I needed something more modern so I sold it? stupid mistake! Will own another... they are around $1400 now seen them as low as $1195

Mine is mounted on an FTR rifle 223 and 308 are the only allowed caliber its long range shooting.

whether you have enough travel will as depend on what you shoot and how far you shoot it. <---- I'm sure you know this

I occasionally run out. Check the drop of the caliber you are shooting at the range you are going to shoot if it will cover the drop you have your good.

I do like this scope if I was shooting it in the unlimited class I am sure It would not be an issue.

I have 2 of these one on an impact the other on a Ruger precision

added the more I thought about this post the more I thought it could have looked sarcastic. sorry if it did.

The trijicon is an outlier in its travel for sure. Travel is probably one on the last features you should look at in deciding a scope.

To the OP both scope would be a great choice for target scope ( there not for hunting) there aimed at the same market.

I think you would be very happy with either.

With scopes look at the whole package recital,quality of glass ,collimation and coatings of the glass (often its one of these 2 that cost a scope its clarity) <--this is not a whole list of items to compare.

The property's of optics is a field that would take more room than one post would allow there is a ton of good info out there if you want to pursue it. 

the higher quality you go the more quality of life features you get, the must have features are usually there by 1k price scope snobs (I am probable 1) add more quality of life features to the must have.

Yep. This one and its twin (Delta) went above and beyond thankfully. I have wanted to try the Trijicon, because I also like the reticle options the most, but they don’t pop up often enough. The SV I think goes up to around 70, but those are the only ones that I know of with more.

Trijicon is more then I want spend at this time, I looked at NF BR 12-42×56 but don't like the front parallax adjustment .

My order on Golden Eagle was canceled because they out of stock where I ordered from so I'm still open to suggestions

Will like to stay closer to $1.000.00 mark unless there is great deal on something else, now I can get refurbished GE for that price.

Scope will go either on my RAW .30 cal or new .25 cal (probably FX impact, didn't make my decision yet) as for max range I think will never see more then 100 y

there are Hawk and Sightmark scopes that might work but I do not own any of these so I am the wrong one to ask on them.

If you are not in a hurry and do not need the very high magnification the new Element Titan looks very promising ( there coming not out yet) but it is a very different scope from what you mentioned. Element Titan 5-25x56 FFP if you are not shooting beyond 100 even this could be over kill.

If some one here has a Hawke Sidewinder ED 10-50x60 and can comment on it. have you check this one out?

I have the Hawke your talking about, not bad? If you can find one used in new condition? But no where the quality of most or all scopes your thinking about! Glass not that good, side parallax is stiff and hard to adjust accurately, I think the quality is really inconsistent from scope to scope on this one, if your lucky you might get a really good one? JMO.

Dang man!! I wish I had known. 2 just sold for $900 and $1000 in the ECR-1 reticle. Is that the one you are looking for? I was going to send you a note, but saw you found one. I’ll keep any eye out.
