Vortek Tx200 PG4 HO Kit .177

I had a lot of shots through my Tx200 so I thought I would try a Vortek HO kit. I was shooting the AA 10.3s at about 770 fps prior to the kit. It was doing well at about 4 fps for SD. There was the occasional wild one. Since the HO kit it is averaging about 712 fps with a SD of about 3.5 fps. The stock at 770 fps was with about 1000 pellets a month for 10 months through it. I have about 500 through it since the kit.

Is this about where it should be expected to be shooting? There are no issues, I just didn't expect a drop with the HO kit.

Hi Dr.

I wouldn't be too concern with a 58 fps drop in power. Unless the accuracy is worse.
I've had Vortek kits in my TX before switching to Tony Leach 22 mm kit. Those Vortek kits were ok for shooting WFTF.

I put 10 Vortek spring sets in last 3 weeks. 4 got new piston seal. 2 gained 20 fps, 7 no change in speed, and 1 loss speed.
Only one lost power. Now it’s odd because I did 2 HW50’s both .177 and both cronied at 780 fps before change. After spring one was 800 fps, the other 760 fps. I was trying different greases. Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to open them up. Too busy playing with the others. Crow

A Vortek HO kit should not be shooting sub 12fpe. Unless you were sent a 12fpe kit by mistake, something is amiss.

Good luck troubleshooting.

Good comments from EMrider...10.3 grains and 712 fps you are at 11.6 FPE...maybe you got a 12 FPE kit by mistake.

Yeah best talk to Tom at Vortek.
Options:
1. keep the same set up
2. Get a HO spring from him (double check but I think spring dimensions are the same except HO springs has more length/coils?)
3. buy or exchange for a new HO kit from Vortek (ask if Tom will take the 12 FPE kit back in return)

I am getting the same speeds with the vortek kit with new piston seal ,accuracy Is spot on but was a little disapointed In the lose of power Im shooting air arms 8G at around 820/830 ish fps I was hoping for 930 fps with those pellets .
