Vortek PG2 SHO-Tune Kit fits Air Arms TX200 / Pro Sport Air Rifles

Now several months ago, and thousands of shots later, I installed one of these kits in my TX200 in .177 caliber.

As has been reported by many, this rifle just shoots better and better the more it is shot.

This morning, over +/- 50 shots, using an AA 7.87 Field Diablo pellet, this set-up produced a consistent 930 fps, usually not varying more than 5 to 6 fps between shots, while staying within 920 fps to 940 fps for the entire session. It now consistently will shoot a 3/8" group. The best performer for me after trying about every pellet PA offers, is the AA 8.4 gr. For some reason, it shoots consistently better than hand weighed JSBs, even though my guess is that they come from the same manufacturer.

Over the last 24 hours, I have shot 10 shot groups with four different pellet weights. Everyone one of them has produced exactly 14.4 lbs of energy.

I had a Vortek 12 ft kit in it before, and never could get it to perform nearly as well, an it only averaged about 8.5 ft lbs.

Based upon my experience, I highly recommend this kit.

Critta,

Call Tom at Vortek Products @ 734 648 0620. Or go online to Vortek Products.I think they run $89.00.Tom is a real stand up guy and will bend over backwards to get Your rifle to where You want it. I know this as I've been dealing with Him for years and I couldn't be happier with Him as a dealer,His products or His customer service. The TX and Pro Sport are one of the Easiest rifles to work on. Piece of Cake! (Even if you don't Like cake.)

Hope this helps,

Mike.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying your TX.

I’ve tried both Vortek and ARH kits in all of my springers and generally have preferred the shot cycle of the ARH kits. They are a bit less snappy than the Vortek kits.

That said, I also can’t resist tinkering and like trying new combinations of springs and seals.

I’ve shot an ARH kit in my hw97k for about a year and a half and it has consistently generated about 11.5-11.7fpe with excellent accuracy using the JSB 10.3s. I’ve had a new Vortek SHO kit on my workbench and just for kicks put that into the gun last weekend. So far, I’m very pleased with the results. The shot cycle is snappier, but still very pleasant and power has increased to about 13.7fpe with the JSB 10.3s. Best of all, accuracy seems to have remained excellent.

Longevity is the big unknown. The ARH kit was very consistent over more than 7,500 shots and I’ve used others well beyond 15,000 shots.

I’ll be interested to see if the Vortek kit loses any power over time.
