Vixen Standard .22 Arrived.

Never shot it yet. If my wife's Weight Watcher scales are correct, this thing weighs 4 pounds 12 oz ( no scope or mag). 4 pounds 2 oz without shroud. The shroud weighs 10 oz. If you wanted to make the Vixen lighter I guess you could put a another moderator on it. Maybe someone has the adapter. The lop is about 13 3/4 . You could remove the rubber pad if you need shorter LOP. I am guessing that it is up against the end of the bottle. I need longer & hope I can move it back some tomorrow. Oh, the barrel is thick, not flimsy. The barrel inserts two inches into the receiver. The bottle is smaller than I thought I don't think it is over 2" OD. Maybe 8 inches long, seems rugged & very secure. The gauge is tiny. Penny diameter. However where it is I am glad it is diminutive . Good Lord willing I will shoot it tomorrow. 😁Happy shootin....

PS, I was hoping that a mag would fit into the void in pistol grip, no..😂. Maybe some matches, LOL

Snowing 35 degrees & 20 30 mph winds, tried to shoot but dangerous stuff flying around. Will try again anutter day.

First thing I did was clean the barrel. Someone must of tested it thoroughly as took several patches. Action was kind of gritty, so lubricated linkage with oil and put that metal grease in the slots where the bolt carrier rides, top & bottom, real nice now. Not FX smooth, but very good. However the trigger is better/lighter than my new FX Impact Compact. Did get a little more length of pull, 14 3/8. Cant go any longer or the stock to bottle adapter thingy will be on the round part of bottle and may come off. I wish they would not of curved the bottom of the buttplate to bottle adapter. Then you could get a little more LOP. I can live with it 4 now, but am going to get it longer somehow. I like 15.5. Love the butt plate adjustable height, It has a lot of travel , I usually like mine all the way down. No problem at all getting lined up with the scope, no difference to me than any rifle I have. The bottle is only 2 inches in diameter. I was thinkin that bottle may cause issues , no. This thing is comfortable to shoot. The thing is not as quiet as I was expecting, it is a little pingy. Am going to change the bolt to the other side, just my preference. It is shooting 16 grainers at 800. Just going to leave it there.

Can you add a suppressor?

Not directly to the end of shroud. see photo. Naturally you can remove shroud and that Vulcan thread adapter to 1/2 unf thread thingy should allow any suppressor. But I am not sure with the lead they have up to the threads. See Pic. I had a couple of those adapters, but recently sold two AGT guns and let them go with it. 😆 I am anxious to see how this thing sounds with moderator. I don't think it is as quiet as it could/should be , & surprising at the volume in the shroud. I don't believe the volume is being utilized with 100 percent efficiency Not that is it to loud, but I was expecting to only hear the pellet hit.😁. I actually just ordered a Donny Tanto with Vulcan size bolt end cap see what it does. Yes & it is too #$%&* windy & cold to shoot again today..😂

Got my lop where it should be. A 1 inch thick piece of pine. Might try these super light rings. As to the scope I originally was going to use that little one inch tube Vixen 3-12 only weighs 13 oz. But the more I look though it the more I think I am going to lose the ret in the woods. Same thing with the Optisan CP 3-12x32. The center x is too thin. Fine for shooting in good light , but in the woods, not going to work for me. I wanted to go light weight, but probably going to use my Vortex Razor 2.5 -15. It is hard to get a really satisfying lightweight scope for old eyes, then add cataracts & couple other eye disease, it gets harder.

think donny fl is making a adapter for the shroud so as i understand you can add a tatsu or sumu as they are the same dimensions as the shroud. i think it could also be more quiet with the big shroud, as the king shroud is the same but totally different baffles, wish they used the king baffles in it i bet it would be more quiet

oh, that would be nice. if he is, wonder why he did not tell me, when I ask for something to fit the muzzle threads. i don't know what a king shroud is. but sounds like you agree, that thing should/could be quieter. IMO the volume is not being utilized.

How about a dirt cheap NcSTAR Compact Tactical 4x32, Length 8.7”, Weight: 8.6 oz

Got a RWS labeled version on one of my Leshiy Classics, because of the low weight and the thicker center - yes its a cheap scope but the tracking is perfect and my Leshiy shoots sub 1 MOA with this - yes its a non-AO scope but I always center my eye anyway so it do not matter to me - no fumbling with AO makes for a faster shot

Disclaimer: mine is an old version, build quality may have changed

If I was younger had had good eyes. I probably use 8 power on my variable scopes more than any other power. I have often thought of a good 8 power scope. I tried the 6X Dedal a couple years ago, and @ times I found it just a tad under powered.

Douger and Nutcracker,

Can these be de-cocked?

Glad to hear you both say the cheek weld feels normal.

Not like a de-cocker, no. No double load feature. If you hold the lever back & pull the trigger, you can release it that way, but when you cock it again you will index the mag, & double load & have pellets in the chamber. Not sure if that is what you were asking.

Cheek weld is just as good any gun I have. I believe I am going with rings that are centerline 2" above the foam cheek pad. Once I get it set up this thing Is going be a super comfortable woods rifle. I am messing with the sling & LOP today.

Here is my attachment points. However they are not set in stone. Not recommending this , but think it will work for me. Naturally I will add a length of paracord between the sling snaps & the loops mounted on the rifle, for silence and more ease of movement. I will carry this like a person carries a pocket book, sling over my left shoulder & rifle under my right arm, with muzzle downward. There seems to be very little weight on the bottle, most of the weight is on the hook on the pictinnny. Of course , I don't have a scope on it yet. I tried a couple on it, just not sure which one I am going with yet. I never like seeing things hooked to bottles.

Not as windy today , but still breezy. Was only firing 6 shot groups due to the breeze. At 20 all in the same hole. looks like .25 cal hole, almost the same at 30, maybe a .30 cal hole. At 40 best .310 ctc. most .400. Here is photo at 52 yards. 6 shots .500 or tad less. Actually had several at that just under .4 but each had one wind drifter in them. Someone who can shoot will get one of these to shoot 1/4" group at 50. The only flyers I get are from wind so far.
