Video of Groundhog Shot at 88 Yards

Shot this groundhog with my FX Impact MKII .25 cal. using the JSB 34's. In my opinion this is great pellet in .25 cal. for groundhogs plus it is super accurate in my rifle. Now with the crops coming off the fields there is a chance of seeing some of the groundhogs that have been hidden all summer. Bill

Omg!

you’ve done that before. I would’ve shot five times at least at the neck…And you just waited patiently for him to turn. And then moved over to the right side of the body to cover the wind. That was freaking awesome!

I will learn from that! Thank you for sharing!

Dang that was a great shot.

Best hunting post of the year, bar none.

Damn it!! What a shot! Was that an offhand shot?

No not an off hand shot as you might of thought by the initial shaking of the reticle in the video. I was just waiting for him to get into position to bear down on the shot. I was actually shooting of the hood of my van which I make no apologizes for taking every opportunity to get the steadiest shot. I cannot remember ever taking a shot with my air rifles off hand as the toughness and accuracy needed to put down a groundhog is required. In the field I have my shooting sticks to use and if possible will get my back against a tree or post for added stability. Also I will go prone if the lay of the land and grass height allow it too. Outstanding shot! I've lost track of how many times I've watched this one... Well done! What range did you sight your rifle in with those JSB 34's @ 840?

That combination zero is at 44 yards. I use Chairguns trajectory calculator to determine my zeros. I usually use .5"s as a kill zone size and plug in all the other basic information for scope height etc. Then if the zero came up at say 43.5 yards I would tweak the kill zone to make it an even yard zero. Thanks Mike, I do use Strelok Pro for wind calls a lot of the time and will set up a wind flag if needed. My wind flag is just a fiberglass driveway maker and some orange flagging tape tied to the top of the pole. I do estimate the wind speed and do it fairly well as I used to use a wind meter in the past at work when spraying pesticides. Bill PS I have made about a dozen shots on groundhogs at over 100 yards this year mostly with my .30 cal Impact and Maverick with a couple over 200 yards. I don't know if you saw those videos.
