Video of Bald Eagle grabbing pigeon

Made a few long shots in the wind (15mph) today with the Crown 22 shooting slugs.

Starling at 120yds.

Pigeons at 108, 118 and 135yds (2). One of them at 135 glided from the top of the silo about 100 yds and gave up from about 50 feet high.

I grabbed the camera when I saw the bald eagle jump from the tree. Figured I'd make this short video for those of you who love raptors like I do.

Awesome video Bob!!

I shoot [photography] a lot of eagles, great blue herons, hawks, etc.
They are so much fun to watch soar around, and even more fun to watch as they hunt their prey..

Hopefully, I'll have some really cool photos to share from now on..
I just moved farther up NY - closer to Montezuma, where there are tons of big birds of prey..
Super stoked

Thanks for the share!

My wife and I were just down in Florida a little over a week ago at Fort Myers Beach. we saw a bald eagle carrying a pretty good-sized fish and an osprey trying to steal it from him, the eagle wasn't having any of it. really cool to see those Raptors at work. by the way I think the bald eagles down there seem to run a little smaller than they do up North

Very nicely done Bob Takes some skill to hold the camera and the eagle centered. Watching that my thoughts came to wouldn’t it be great to be able to fly like an eagle . Followed by —- not so great to eat raw pigeon

Birds are in many ways the most advanced of the animal groups.

There is a preconceived idea that hunters don’t appreciate life. Bob your video’s go some distance in showing that to be untrue.

Thanks for taking the time to video and also what you do to advance the sport. Many are less willing to share what clearly involves time and talent.

Cool video, eagles are such a majestic bird to watch. I have a couple of red tail hawks at my latest permission that do clean up. I watch one follow down a pigeon I shot to the ground and pounce on him. Also had the experience of seeing a calf being born and getting some fresh eggs as a thank you from one farmer. People do not see the connection with nature and joy you can get from hunting. Bill

Bob,

Thank you!

And you said the magic word: "Sony". That's the brand that I use too.
Minolta/Sony user since the mid 90s. I have a few A77ii's, and I think I was using a 150-600mm lens for those..

Man, now knowing what you used to film with - VERY Good Job!! Seriously.. That is impressive!
You did better filming than I would have with my gear!

🙂👍
