Video Highlight: AirForce Texan .45 Big Bore Airgun Fruit Salad!

So yes - I am a fruit sniper. I am getting ready for the Deer hunting season here in Michigan and testing different ammo options. I harvested 3 deer last year with the AirForce Airguns Texan .357 using 128 grain and 175 grain slugs. This year I am moving up to the AirForce Texan .45. I will be looking at flat nose and hollow-points and slugs in the 250-350 grain range. 250 grain slugs zip out in the 830ish FPS and get great expansion with hollow-points but give up some FPE. Just for fun I decided to do some scientific research using fruit. AirForce Texan fruit salad baby! Using Nick Nielsen NSA 254 grain HP Boat Tails. Next up - I will be testing the Hunters Supply Flat Nose .45 slugs.

Yep, I know I was warned above, and I know that the US is a land of plenty, but I can't help it - coming from where I do I can't get comfortable with blasting perfectly good food for fun. 

I see it done by loads of US gun and airgun channels in the name of 'science' but last I checked a watermelon, apple, orange etc have virtually no similarity to small or medium game tissue. I suppose some of the fruit etc used may have been off/expired but it sure didn't look it. I know ballistic gelatin or clay may not make as big of a splat, but the info they provide is probably more useful.

Don't get me wrong, the video is fun and it really is not my intention to judge or criticize you personally. As I said I see it a lot. Just a different perspective on these things. As I said my home country is in a very different situation with vast poverty and wastage of food really makes me cringe.

Man - so true! We are truly blessed here in the U.S.A. and I totally get what you are saying. Please accept my sincerest apologies if this video offended. Also - send me a link to a charitable organization in your country that helps with people in need for food and shelter and I will make a donation double the amount of the fruit in this video. People might be reading this thinking I am being sarcastic - but I am not - this is a real issue and we (myself) sometimes forget how lucky we are.
