Vevor compressor pressure setting gauge issue

So I recently bought a Vevor suitcase compressor straight from their website. It seems to work fine but the gauge on the top that you set the auto shutoff pressure with is turning out to be pretty useless. When I turn the little dial on the gauge the needle doesn't move and when it does it moves a ton far past my guns pressure rating. Then I had to play with it and wiggle it etc. to get it to move again back to where I needed it to be. I contacted them and they said I need to take some pics and a video to show them the issue. I can see this not ending well for me already. This gauge seems to be the only cheap weak part of this compressor. I wonder if there is a place that sells better gauges to adjust the pressure with?

Here's gauge from Set Pressure model Yong Heng, only lasted two years due to heavy vibrations. Replacements can be found on eBay (Search "Yong Heng parts") for not much. Has 10mm parallel threads that tighten down against white plastic Delrin washer in threaded hole. If similar in appearance to yours, might try picking one up. WM

Well this gauge actually looks a bit better quality wise then the one on the Vevor compressor. Thank you for the suggestion. And although I don’t disagree with Gerry52’s advice I really like the auto shutoff option as who wants to sit there and babysit a pump?

i drew a circle on the picture recently posted.

the set point marker has a pin on it,
the red knob has a little arm on it that pushes against the pin on the set point marker,
the red knob itself doesnt move the set point marker.

if you go past your intended set point,
you have to turn the red knob back in the opposite direction until the little arm comes back around and makes contact with the pin to push the marker in the other direction.

Think these gauges are from same manufacturer, in fact, I replaced the broken with one from the above-mentioned hand pump, just screwed right in, works great. I'm with Gerry, with PPE eye and hearing protection, I never leave filling unattended. Once had return cooling hose slip out of water bucket, if absent, water to floor, compressor overheats. Just saying, WM

I got the cheaper YH model without the auto shut off because I knew I would not trust it. I do not sit there for 15-20 minutes while it fills my 45 minute tank but I come back every 5 minutes to vent moisture and when it gets close to 300 bar I hang around. Another reason to be a bit leery about the auto shut off feature is it means shutting down the compressor without opening the vent. I start with an open vent and I open the vent before turning the compressor off. I think that is a good practice that may improve longevity.

Agree with YH Hardcover model choice, would go that route if replacing mine. Starting and stopping under pressure is never a good idea. I always start with release valves open, only stop under pressure for soapy water spray bottle leak test, using deadhead plug, all other times valves open before shutting down. Only fill guns so hang around for the 3-5 minutes it takes. WM
