Veteran porting and reg pressure?

Curious if anyone has any first hand experience with differences in the valve porting and regulator pressure (reg tester) of the three variations of the Veteran (Short, Standard, Long)?

Hammer springs appear to be the same, the dual transfer ports appear to be the same. From what I can tell sans reg tester, reg pressure seems to be the same. I think that just leaves the valve porting.

I guess the question is: given same caliber, is the barrel length the only factor influencing power output across all three?

Very interesting question. I will follow this thread to read the informed responses.

I own Taipan Veterans in .22 Standard, .22 Long and .25 Long. Just to experiment, at various points, I've changed changed the Vet. 22 Long's 550mm barrel to the 700mm barrel (LW, I believe) and an Fx 700mm impact STX barrel, fitted for a Taipan Veteran. .22 cal..

The barrel changes (the longer barrels) alone produced significant velocity increases, which leads me to believe the only difference in the Vet Short, Standard and Long is the barrel lengths, i.e. no valve porting difference in the 3 rifles.

To get a more definitive answer to your question, I would contact Tony Annuzzi (sp?) at Talon Tunes. I've even contacted Marek Dengl in Ostrava, Czech Republic requesting parts for my Taipans. I bet he could tell you if there are internal differences in the rifles.

Mr. Dendl's email address is:[email protected]

BTW: Marek sent the requested parts to me-- which included a transfer port -- free of charge.😉

Good luck in your quest with these awesome bullpups.

I don't have one , from how I understand it the longer barrel allows you to better utilize the air available without excess waste.

You really should try the Taipan Veteran, really nice rifles. These things are accurate, robust, smooth cycling, quiet and possess a very nice trigger. The trigger, I believe aids the accuracy of the gun.
