There's only one way to find out. It's easily measured. You should leave some preload. Too little can cause it to twang. Most Vortek kits run a lot less preload than factory and ARH and they still work well. That's not just length but also pressure. Vortek kits are more easily assembled without a spring compressor than the others.
These are some of the clippings from whittling the Vortek spring in my R8. It ended up being 4 coils shorter. This stuff is a labor a love.
If it shoots well where it's at there may be nothing gained by decreasing the power.

I knew I would have limited time to finish them. But took the time when I could to get started. It's ok. I don't have any time constraints on it. Been very busy with work, remodeling in our home, family time, and fishing one evening nearly every weekend. Biggest smallmouth bass last Sunday 19".I don't even know what that gun isSounds too rich for my blood. Any stock making updates?

Always expect something 18 or bigger. A few weeks ago I lost a good one, then caught an 18 and a 21. All behind 1 large rock outcropping while wading.
