HW/Weihrauch Velocities from Hw50 Plinkers kit?

I just sold my R8 to get a blue 75 anniversary 177 Hw50 to put in an ARH plinkers kit and peep sights on. I'm probably not getting the blue 50 because of the stupid price. I'm still intrested in setting up the same kit and sights on another Hw50. I'm looking for a lightly used one if anyone's got one.

Anyhow I'm curious what kind of velocities you guys are getting from the plinkers kit in your Hw50. I'm hoping for 9-10fpe. I think I've heard as low as 5fpe which is too low for me and why I'm asking.

I've been trying to get that information for a while now. Maybe you can post a review of the project. I would love one around 8fpe range.

A slightly larger an more powerful version of my peep sighted Hw30. It's great and I absolutely love it at 8.2fpe. The Hw50 just fits me a little better. I have a scoped 177 Hw50 that makes 11-12fpe. It's a great all around rifle. Just not as much fun to plink with as my peep sighted 30. At full power a 50 doesn't cock easily enough for a plinker. If I knocked one down to 9-10 fpe it would be the best of everything I would want for plinking. It should cock easy enough for prolonged sessions and have enough power for plinking out to 50 yards. I already use my peep sighted Hw30 out to 50 yards. Past that my vision is the issue. My 30s have taken plenty of gray squirrels inside of 20 yards. Some out to 25 yards but that's not ideal. A little more pep in the 50 would get me a little insurance on that. My full power 50 has done plenty of squirrels out to 50 yards but that's really stretching it. Inside of 40 is better for that gun.

I don't know, I think a 9-10 fpe peep sighted 177 hw50 would be the cat's whiskers. Well now I just need to cough up $700 for a blue one or find me a used one.

Personally, I hate those blue and red stocks. Buy as cheap a version as you can get or even a used one. Then, for the $300 you save, get a custom stock in whatever configuration you want. Then it will be a heirloom treasure. I bought a stock here for my TX200. They do good work.

Different strokes for different folks. I really like the blue laminate stocks. I have a blue laminate R9 and a green Laminate 97. I'm not a fan of red laminate but that's just a color thing.

But I agree about saving the money and buying a lightly used one. IMO the quality of the newer ones have slid down. I was already apprehensive about buying the new blue one before I found out it how expensive it was. Now I'm scared to death and really struggling to justify the cost. I already sold my R8 to pay for it. It won't cover the cost of the blue 50. Now I'm considering selling my R1 to pay the remaining cost.

You'll be paying import duty if you don't order by the 29th! NOT tariff. Import duty. Same with Krales.
Used gun prices are going up because you won't be importing nuffin. Used guns will be competing with domestic dealers only.

You'll be paying import duty on the HW50 with the blue stock attached as well. Besides, haven't we been paying import duties all along?

I can't speak specifically to the Plinkers kit, but I have an Anschutz sighted HW50 sporting an ARH walnut stock and spring kit that I've assumed was either the Plinker before the namesake, or similar. If I break it down, I'll measure the gauge and coil count. It's a fantastic shooter, easy to cock and shoots 10-10.5# The rifle is well behaved at that power level, accurate, and never quirky. One of my favorites, though I have many favorites!

That's be nice. People used to say that the 98s were machined and assembled by a different crew. I'm not sure if I believe that. I've seen the same flaws in newer 98s as any other Weihrauch. In 2016 I had two back to back sequentially numbered 77KSEs that had really bad barrels. So at the very least that SE meant nothing.

Regardless I'm happy yours is perfect.

Of anyone is interested, today I placed a add in the classifieds to trade my 177 R1 for a 177 Hw50 to make this happen.

Traditional Rifle - My 1992 177 R1 for your 1999-2018 177 Hw50

I'm looking to trade or sell a Vortek tuned 177 R1 that's in nice shape for a 177 Hw50 in at least as good a shape cosmetically. I'm gonna soft tune the 50 so broken springs and bad seals is fine. The R1 is too big and hard to cock for me to enjoy. Thanks Ron
