I got to the Grand Opening of the new Utah Airguns Orem Store about a half hour after they opened. I really wasn't expecting many people to be there, after all, it's Air Guns! Wow, was I surprised! I think I took the last parking spot in the place, the store was packed.
The store is nice, well laid out and looks good. My compliments to the UAG staff for putting it together. It's nice to have a place where I can shoulder a gun before buying it. That's such a hang up for me! I'd like to touch a gun before buying and now I can!
I can also buy JSB's locally off the shelf now. That's been an issue for some time as well. Mail order only, with appropriate shipping. Now, ammunition is local!
As for guns, the shelves are well stocked with multiple brands, with FX taking center stage.
The highlight was probably the airgun range. Multiple targets set at different ranges. Gongs, spinners, and about anything else you can think of. They'll rent some guns as well if you want to try one out. The best part about the range is that it's quiet. No PB's on the upstairs range. I believe they ended up with a PB range in the basement but you'd need to validate that one.
As for personalities that showed up - I saw the AGD crew, the Airforce bunch, the folks from Side Shot (who are based in Logan UT, about 2 hours North of the store), had good conversations with most of them.
Fredrik Axelsson of FX Airguns was there, He's incredibly dedicated to the sport, his wife Anna was there and incredibly pleasant. Both a delight to talk to.
Ted also showed up, talked to him for a few minutes, and we might be seeing a bit more from him in the near future. Many projects going on, with some videos that might be coming next year. Best of luck on the business adventures!
All in all a very successful opening with only one hang-up from my view. They forgot shopping baskets, which saved me some $$ because once I loaded up my hands, I couldn't get anything else to the register. I think they'll remedy the situation shortly, but for now, no baskets (Dang!)
I had no idea there were so many air gunners in the valley, and I'm happy to see so many in the sport, enough to support UAG's new storefront.
Congratulations to Justin and the crew!
