USPS - You Had One Job...

Snail Mail strikes again. From it's origination point in Nebraska, to a Regional Center in Kansas, to my home state of Indiana... and back to Kansas? Guess my estimated delivery date is off the table.

I like USPS but you are right - they are having a lot of issues right now. I'm waiting on a 2-day priority shipped money order that should have been here Monday. No detailed tracking - its "in route". I think with more things being shipped than before they are just having trouble keeping up (and they're not alone). Where we live FedEx and UPS are still pretty much on time.

So how about this one. Mailed from Athens May29th and departs for Maryland. On Jun 1 it is back in Athens "Available for Pick-up". Shipper goes into PO in Athens and told "It's not here". On the 6th I see option for "Reschedule Delivery" so I do that. Then I get the below (2nd pic) noticed delivered to me. No one knows where it is. So I resubmitted another "Request" making note. Good thing is the seller has already refunded me based on my Postmaster telling me she is NOT confident of the package being delivered at all.

My UPS packages coming in from the east to Oregon end up in Troutdale three miles from my home before they are transferred and taken way up in Washington a couple three hundred miles. Then get handed off to the USPS and come back to me several days later. Seems like a waste of time and energy to do that but it is what it is and my phone calls have done nothing.

As for the USPS more than once I have sent a package off and it came to my address instead of where I sent it. I now write in big red letters TO and FROM so it doesn't happen again.

Things have changed and not just cuz of the Chinese virus. Still they are pretty good the majority of the time.

I hope you end up with whatever they have on the merry-go-round for you.

We always get sale flyers after the sales have ended. I once received a dental appointment reminder a week after the appointment, so I did a little experiment and mailed a letter to myself. It took 11 days to reach me. Evidently they changed things at the post office and no longer have a box for local mail. All our mail is sent 90 miles north, or 45 miles east to other routing centers.

Hope you DIDN'T WASTE A STAMP and just BLUEBOXED a stampless envelope addressed TO a local nearby relative with the FROM section with YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS... Yo!

I have by far the best luck with usps priority or DHL. UPS and FedEx just disappoint me to no end with delays, crazy misrouting, damaged packages. I would not want to have to rely on those carriers based on my experience.

its like FedEx and ups deliberately slow stuff down. I’ve had things shipped from a nearby state just sit at a local distribution center for days waiting for that scheduled delivery date a week later. I can get the same shipment in 48 hours via priority mail.

Like most businesses, the USPS is under a lot of stress due to employees with Coronavirus, and increased volume due to so many people at home and ordering/shipping. I went to send a small item (under a pound) to a residential address. Cost-$23+. Put it in a Priority Mail box cost-$8.65. For shipping to a residential address, USPS it is. UPS charges a big surcharge for shipping to a residence. They don't want that one package going to that house way out in the sticks. They only want business shipping in metro areas, so they charge a premium for it. For many people in rural areas, it is the only game in town without paying UPS's "Delivery Area Surcharge"( in addition to the premium for Residential delivery) for remote delivery. Oh, and did I mention USPS delivers on Saturday without extra cost? I've been a daily UPS pickup for 20 years. They have gotten terrible, and their prices are 2-3 times that of the USPS. Ever buy something and pay for private carrier and it gets delivered by the USPS, I have a LOT of times. They charge the high price and dump it in the mail, especially the residential remote deliveries-pure profit.
