USPS---No wonder they're broke

Digger-Because of my sons passing I got meet hundreds and hundreds of people involved in the drift racing community. I will tell ya they are a hard working bunch with a lot of respect. Definitely a work hard play hard bunch.

TMH-yeah I think Flgunner has got ya beat.

Ramjet-oh that's gotta suck. Kind of like pumpkin pie and no whip cream.

There are some that were raised up right thank goodness , my young in runs a crew on jobs and gets stuff done she is 18 and was given a choice be hungry or work for it. The population of hard working go getters may still be out there but there is the group that is give me bread but I do not want to help make it

i have 3 speedloaders for leshiy 2 from england that has been sitting in chicago since 12-4 20 with no updates

Well don't worry - you probably only have a few more months to wait for it. One of my orders from the U.K. (shipped USPS) has now been sitting at LAX with no updates since October!

The last line of the tracking info reads:

"Inbound Out of Customs
Your item cleared United States Customs at 2:57 pm on October 14, 2020."

Its a Covid thing normally they are ok.

USPS has been infected with covid for a long time. I detest going there. It seems that all the people that go to the post office are a bunch of old ladies that haven’t been out of the house in decades and have never been to the post office before. They ask a million questions about everything and surely hav all of their grandchildren’s Christmas gifts to send at one time. Then, of course, the clerk has to go through their 14 step routine to accept the package. It’s like ignorance meets ignorance. Sorry for the rant. I agree that the USPS generally does a good job, but their procedures are inefficient. Too many choices confuse people. You wanna send a letter? One buck. You wanna send a package? Twenty five bucks. Now go away.

I recently sold some things on ebay and used USPS. One item (sent First Class Priority 2-Day Mail) took 18 DAYS to reach my buyer a few states away.

Two things convinced me that this occurs way too often:

  1. USPS doesn't allow you to file a "lost item" claim until 10 days have past since mailing
  2. After 12 days past I went to the post office and asked a clerk about my wayward Priority Mail package. She responded in a calm, matter-of-fact manner, "Don't worry, it will show up eventually.
    [/LIST=1]

If you've ever watched your mailman deliver, then compared this to your UPS and FedEx deliveries, you can see part of the problem. UPS and FedEx people are young and they hustle, often running from truck to front door. My mailman and mailwoman are more like refugees from a nursing home.

Vetmx- I've had great luck with fed-ex ground. Just anything 2 day air gets screwed up. 3K...I would be nervous no matter what.

Bill - UPS has been pretty good also but like I said above, Just anything 2 day air gets screwed up.

JimNM- I know what you mean. I just had to vent.

Matt- hahahahahahahahah how true it is.

Ripper-it wont matter. They got us all by the short hairs.

Carl- I completely understand what you are saying. My package will arrive,,, eventually. What I don't understand is how a delivery driver can place 2 packages on my porch, directly under my address, and they were for my neighbor 2 doors down.

Top-I dont see Odoyle's posts but I will say there are days that all the delivery services suck and days they shine. My package just missed the shin day. oh well. If you had my rural USPS delivery guy you would not feel at all bad asking this guy if he knew what he was doing. He has to try to get things so messed up.

leadfoot- I am in Michigan, sent a 2 day package to California. Check 2 days later and it was leaving the Maine sorting facility.

To all-am I mad, nope, not at all. I just think it's ridicules.... Especially when Krale in the Netherlands would get my order to me in 3 days or less. Thank you for telling me of your experiences. Hope you all have a great week and a wonderful holiday season. Stay safe, hug your loved ones.

Krale - do they use DHL? If so, that is a German company.. doubt they will screw up.. Ok, now being German just got to my head a 3 billionth time

I will personally never buy another

German made car during this lifetime.

My first car was a VW, then a few more from there. At some point I put my big-boy pants on and purchased a Mercedes Benz SUV (first year of the Daimler Chrysler production.. mistake..) then I traded that in for a little 325i wagon (by far my favorite vehicle of all time). It was an e46 and I could just whip it in and out of corners like a professional. That wagon was so good, it drove itself! Then an e90 sedan (magnesium engine block.. oh my!)

Then the child was born and back to VW for economy. Flash forward to today and I am left with 2 Japs in the garage.. go figure..

So in an attempt to stay on topic, I have one German airgun. It’s a Walter LGU and I am smitten!

Actually I love German cars. Started years ago with that Mercedes SUV, a ML 430. Loved it and drove it into the ground. It finally said “No Mas” at 172 thousand miles. Went Japanese for a few years (Lexus and Toyota) then came back to Germany 6 years ago.Between the wife and myself we got 3, a BMW 435, a Porsche Cayenne S and an old (‘07) BMW Z4. All have been bulletproof so far and great fun.

Of course, I did work for a German company for 25 years

So I had the ML430 too. I loved that the first and second generation MLs were based on a “truck” frame. Later they became unibody. For being top heavy, heavy overall, and large it drove very well. Most I see, including mine, were prone to rust around the wheel wells and rocker panels. I also had valve lifter issues which were quite common.

Enjoy that Z4!

Top, I agree 100%. The original MLS were the best. The new ones are just OK in my opinion. The old heavy ones were beasts 😂 The Z4 is just pure fun. Not practical, but fun.

Chrisis-I love cars even more than guns. My "toy" is a 1986 Rx7, LS swapped, T56 6 speed, 4.10 limited slip but I put a spool in it, and stripped of everything not necessary, 2486 lbs curb weight and around 475 hp. Gets 24 mpg on the highway.

Oooh! Now that’s cool; Mike. I always wanted to get a RX, but at the time could not afford one (wife at home, 3 young kids....). That’s a lot of Horsepower for not very much curb weight!

USPS indeed has issues, but it has nothing to do with its financial viability. Face it, it is a government service, socialism if you must, but it's going to operate on the tax dollar, not its bottom line profit. And there are probably worse ways to spend our tax dollars. No, as with any enterprise, it's a management issue, and too many managers lack leadership.

Ed- I agree that many managers lack leadersiip. Leadership is not taught in my opinion, it is earned. I used to say "there is no bad employee, just bad training" Thats not the case any more and that is sad. I have worked with people that just want to learn and some just want you to pay them for a poor attitude and sub-par work.

I guess it is pride in what you do.

Yes, and those are the people who should not be tolerated by any employer, government or private. My first 10 years after college, I worked as a federal bank examiner. After a career in the private sector, when I look back on those years, I can't say we had the same drive to succeed as most private sector employees. But, we did have decent leadership, and we took pride in our job and, sometimes, improving the quality of the institutions we examined. At that time, there was a probationary period when hired into that federal job, and people could be, and were dismissed if it wasn't looking promising. I think too many government jobs are filled by anyone capable of completing the application, just a box to be checked by a mid-level manager. If we consider it a necessary service, and I do, then fund it appropriately and bring in proper oversight/leadership. If it can be operated on a self-sustaining basis, that's great, but it shouldn't be the sole political focus. Just my opinion.

Update---USPS just dropped off a package on my porch. Definitely not my usual delivery person, they're never here before 2 or 3pm. Grabbed the package, guess what it's for my neighbor a couple doors down, figures.

Checked tracking---Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility......no $hit.

OK, just ordered from P.A. it will be an oversize package. Used UPS ground as preferred shipping method. Says it will be here tomorrow 12-17. I am 4.5 hours away from them and 7 hours away from where my USPS 2nd day air pkg was shipped from.

Bet you UPS get my standard shipping package to me before USPS get my already later than poop 2nd day air package to me.

And I'll bet you paid 2-3 times the price

The USPS delivers in 1 day what UPS delivers in a year

If the USPS was gone tomorrow, UPS would collapse, Saturday delivery will be gone, and rural delivery will be non-existent or unaffordable

Send your next order for 20-30 tins of pellets that normally ship USPS Flat rate UPS Residential Insured and report back to us

Yes. On a 2# package going to a city area-for now. After the competition is gone the skies the limit. How about a 30# package going to that one house a mile down the road. I'm still thinking the delivery business would be an excellent opportunity for you. It is obvious that you have figured out the secret of delivery logistics during a pandemic that the USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Amazon could not.

Don't know if you've seen it, was all over the news, UPS is refusing to pick up packages at Macy's, Amazon and other large volume shippers. Make yourself look good by reducing volume. UPS does not even have enough trucks, they are delivering in Budget and Penske truck rentals. They also do not have enough scanners or personnel. I've been a daily UPS pickup for 20 years.
