Using an old Chrony?

Hi,
I have an old F-1 Chrony cronograph that was a Christmas present, bought 11/25/1992. It was put away, and never used it. I thought about it the other day, looked at it, dug out a 9v. DC. power supply out of my junk and have been thinking of using it in the basement while shooting my pellet rifles. This cronograph is a very basic model, and I wonder if it is worth using, if it does even work, as it's unused, and probably outdated. Anyone know if it would be compatible with the later recording devices of Cronie? I still have to find, and soulder tips onto the transformer wires, so I can plug the transformer into the battery terminals of the Cronie, but can try it with a battery.

The old and new Chronys are the same technology, identical everything and all parts interchange...The differences are the extra features more advanced models offer...I had one of those F1 models (Green) and it was excellent for everything from airguns to rimfires, centerfires and arrows...I then lost concentration and killed it (Magnum Centerfire) and acquired a Gama model with a printer which at the time was supposed to be the holy grail...To be honest, I HATE all of those extra buttons and features I don't need or ever use...Simple is better as to what I am concerned.

Chrony indeed offers upgrades and are a good company to deal with, Danielle (Administrator) is a fine and helpful lady very customer oriented, but before you consider upgrading I would advice you to use it as is and then decide if you need extra features.

Strever, if it works with a 9V battery and not with a 9V transformer make sure that the transformer is DC and not AC.

Or, it may have 9V written on the transformer but in reality its putting out a different voltage, most likely less than 9V. Recommend checking with a voltmeter.

Another possibility, there may be a connection problem from your transformer wires to the plug/connector.

Lastly, check the polarity of the transformer or the transformer plug to make sure it matches what the Chrony expects. Usually the outside is ground/negative and the inside is positive.
