I'm looking for a used adjustable regulator for my Gen 2 Marauder in .177. Don't move me just yet! Are the aftermarket regulators for the Marauder easily rebuit or should I just go with new and not worry what I get in the used market?

Even at a marked down used cost, by the time you pay shipping, and the cost of a rebuild kit, you will probably be very close to new price.

Just go new, couple reasons -
You don't know what you get with a used regulator. Could be perfect condition, could be really bad
Regulators are relatively cheap. $120 for a Huma, or $69 for a Lithuanian model available on eBay,
Last reason, I've never seen a used regulator for sale. Once installed, my bet is that no one ever removes it. Too much hassle.

The hassle of installation is exactly what I am hoping for. I'd like to find one that someone has purchased and never got around to installing.

I've had my Altaros out & in in 20 minutes. It's easy on a Rainstorm but I believe some are harder than others. I don't have a tester nor can I find a rebuild kit. I don't think I need a tester though as the Starrett depth gauge should tell me right where to set plenum depth & it'll break in. If I could find a gun & reg rebuild kit.

The audrius regulator is only $69.00 new and works like a charm, at least one well know tuner uses nothing else. I've put 2 in marauder and bioth were excelent and held under a 10fps ES.

There’s nothing wrong with buying a used regulator. It depend on the price and accepting the risk that it comes with.

That's how I feel as well! I also like to tinker and that was my original question. I'll rephrase the question. If one were to buy a used regulator, which one would be the most convenient to rebuild?
Counter point: Both the Audrius and the Altaros look very interesting. Something tells me to lean this way. Like addertooth said;

But, I AM retired and I do like to tinker! It looks like the discussion is really between my ears.

I should also point out that I would want the consistant shot strings for Field Target style shooting and general paper punching (non-competitive).

Why, Are we taking a $20 dollar savings. You can ave a new regulator from Lane regulators in 7days for a $104 shipped and it come with 2nd set of orings, drill for the breath hole if need, drill for transfer port if need and a tech support if needed.
