Used marketplaces

To some degree, yes. Seals/ o-rings can and will degrade with age, not really damaging to the gun itself, but requiring maintenance. PCP’s can have a few, or a few dozen o-rings.
Great to know. I have had good success buying used rifles/shotguns over the years but have known more about what to look for and the questions to ask. I'm going to do some more research on the short term/long term care of PCP's on this site to be more informed before I "pull the trigger."

I have purchased several air guns off gunbroker.com. Mostly older rifles. With few exceptions they leaked air. With the exception of 1 replacing o'rings fixed the rifle. I have several oring collections I purchased off AliExpress. Different material and sizes. I only had one rifle I needed an oddball size I did not have. 10 of them cost as much as a 1,200 oring kit.

The couple of newer guns worked and held air. After testing I replaced most or all of the orings anyway.

For the most part it is just a few screws and fittings to disassemble a poppet valve gun. Just a few screws (5-8) to disassemble an AirForce tophat style gun.

It may be unnecessary to say this but clear the gun and degas before disassembly.

I can't seem to see the photos on American Airguns. Do I have to be a member or something to view them?
No but tread with massive caution there. Tons of scammers. Airgun warriors is just as bad. When I was trying to sell my WK3 a cpl weeks ago there was a compact one on AGW for like 700 dollars or something. I was like oh man. Went back today and there is an ad on there from someone who paid for a WK3 and never was shipped the gun. Scammer central.

Ebay is a crap shoot, usually way overpriced.

Gunbroker I stick to auctions, usually the ones that start at $0.01. Drop a low ball bid and walk away. Then occasionally I get emails telling me I won.

Auctions are quite often consignment from estates through dealers. So the guns are usually older versiins or models and probably sitting for some time. Replace the orings, *boom* good as new.

Ive bought a couple from American Airguns. Have them take a picture of the gun with a card and your name. Text the picture to you. Scammer will always bail at that point.

Then only pay with PayPal goods and services. They dont go for that, walk away.
