Uragan or Lelya

No comparative data for you. But regarding 'hard to get' AOA just listed a LNIB Uragan in .30 cal yesterday on their pre-owned page for $1,295, or a couple hundred $$ off their normal new gun price. And I held back, so it is still showing this morning.

(The reason I didn't buy this one is that my Uragan King in .30 cal just got delivered last night) 😁

I have them both in .22 . I like them both.

The Lelya is heavier duty, much more protected from mishaps. The Uragan's carbon fiber bottle hangs out in the wind just asking to being beat on. The Lelya feels a little heavier but really isn't. The Lelya can handle some rough handling, the Uragan can't. The Lelya is about an inch shorter than the Uragan Compact.

The Uragan is MUCH easier to cock, as the Lelya has no mechanical advantage in the cocking mechanism. Not a big deal, you just need to pull and push harder.

I shoot offhand and both with red dot sights, so my accuracy comments are subjective. Both guns shoot very well. And as far as that goes, in my short range (bought 18yrds.), there's not a noticeable difference between the two. They both sit well at my shoulder (6' tall, 250lbs).

The Lelya's magazine has no springs...a GOOD thing. But...the Uragans magazine is also very easy to work with (springs break). Both simple to load, both easy to install and remove from the gun.

Both triggers are adjustable. The power is adjustable in both.

"I"...really don't like the Lelya 2's stock. It's got a really oddly placed cutout for your middle finger...WHY..? It feels odd, looks weird. So, I went about modifying my Lelys stock to get it to feel comfortable. Lots of wood removing, lots of filler added.

If you want a gun that can be handled roughly, get the Lelya, but both are great guns.

Better yet...do what I did...just get them both..!

I have the Taipan Veteran Compact 25 cal and it generates up to 50 ft./lbs with 34 gr JSB MKIIs, but sweet spot is 26 gr JSB jumbo or 26 grain Hades, IMHO at around 40 ft./lbs. With the DonnyFL Adaptor to adjust the hammer spring I can take .25 cal 25 grain JSB diablos and have power setting from high teens up to mid 40s. As most people here say, and is correct Taipans are built to last. The Taipan’s read cocking lever takes some gets use to but easy to IMHO, and the magazines are made of metal as is the single shot tray. With a scope the gun comes in at 8.5 lbs. But I know this from owning the Taipan, you can adjust the power level / hammer spring much easier on the Taipan than the Leyla 2.0, at least from the videos I have seen.

I just did a check, the Leyla is about “1/4 lbs” lighter than the Taipan, and costs around $200-$300 than the Taipan. I spoke with the YouTuber from Air Rifle Activities and one comment he made was the Leyla 2.0 wasn’t a gun that you can’t really mount a bipod to it, if you wanted to, but it is a 75 yard gun for sure. The Taipan Vet Compact you can mount a rail for a bipod and i plan to, but haven’t yet.

However, I want a Leyla 2.0 in the future.

JWilson, that’s a beautiful gun for sure! However I do not understand why one would buy a light, short (and clearly designed for offhand shooting) gun and the add all that weight with a bipod!

For me (obviously not for you - and it is your gun) it defeats the purpose.

Quick Detach is a really cool feature offered by many manufacturers today👌 I posted only to show that one can mount an accessory rail and have a bipod when desired. For the record, the Lelya 2.0 is quite fun and capable supported too.

I just love light short carry guns. Then I see guys tack all the "heavies" on. Just ruins the gun for me. Personal preferences only.

My p15 is a great gun (25) . Working on a 1lb scope. Maybe a Dadel. More likely a sight mark wraith with quick disconnect for other guns. 4x32 maybe a Pard nv008.

As long as I end up with a 1lb scope. SMW also has 2x14x28. Probably better for walk around hunting.
