Tuning (UPDATE) New Fx Impact Mk2 Major Leak

Hey guys.

My Impact Mk2 worked like a charm till about 2 months but suddenly went whack today. All the air from the air tank is leaking out the transfer port near the breech end. Was shooting fine through the day when suddenly after 1 shot there was a pop and all the air in the tank started leaking out the breech. I cocked and fired again. But the air went on leaking. It's not a slow leak but rather as if someone's opened the tank and the air is all flowing out. Lost 100 bar in like 10 or maybe 15 seconds. Now the tank is unscrewed but if I screw it back on, it starts leaking out the breech instantly. My reg is set pretty low at 90 bar so it's not like the airgun was under huge reg pressure or something.

Am thinking this is a valve stem problem. Maybe the delrin seal at the end of the valve stem cracked or something. If it was an oring it would have been a slow leak. This is like a whoosh of air constantly leaking out.

Anyone faced this before and can point me to a solution ?

Many thanks in advance

May be the 3rd o-ring from the font on the valve housing if air is coming out the barrel. Is the air coming out of the barrel or the little hole behind the safety ? If it's the little hole you have a regulator problem.

Air is flowing out super fast out of the breach end where you put the pellet in. Basically all air through the transfer port is flowing ou .

It's an easy fix... either a broken valve seat or 3rd o-ring on the valve housing.

If you've never had it apart just watch the FX impact videos on youtube.

Can guess and postulate all we want, probably going to have to take it apart and have a look at orings. Or send it back if you dont feel comfortable with that.

Am hoping it just the valve seat that broke or the delrin on the valve rod which gave away. Will open her up tonight and then report back on the issue. Just waiting for the spare parts to reach me.

Opened the impact up. The valve rod wasn’t flush with the valve housing. It was poking out a bit.

Also it seems the new MK2’s don’t have a valve seat. FX has changed the design where a valve seat isn’t required. The valve rod seals directly inside the valve housing.

Anyways, I Replaced the valve rod and the new one sat flush with the valve housing. Checked all the orings. Put it back together but no luck. The air is still whooshing out the transfer port.

Brand new MK2 and I ain’t able to figure out why it’s leaking like a waterfall. Am going to let it be for a while and then maybe redo the installation with another valve rod and see if that helps.

Will keep you guys posted.

UPDATE:

I’ve managed to fix the major leak. I did the following:

1. Changed the valve rod again (the first one I changed to and put in had a small bur so changed it to another brand new one)

2. changed all the 4 orings on the valve housing

3. changed all the orings on the plenum tube.

Doing this fixed the major leak. The air doesn’t whoosh out the transfer port anymore.

But I now have a minor leak. it leaks about 50 bar in 24 hours. I used some leak detector liquid and it’s bubbling at the transfer port. Here is a pic. The white liquid inside the transfer port is bubbling.

Took it apart again to check all the orings. Dry fired the gun around 50 times to check if the delrin on the valve rod was seated properly. Leak still there. Checked all the other areas but it’s clearly leaking ONLY at the transfer port hole in the pic.
My version has an integrated valve seat and not the removable one so I am Preety sure it’s not that.

Not sure what’s causing the leak.Superbly frustrating since I love the MK2. Anyone got any ideas ?

I have another issue, where in I had asked Brother Ernest Rowe on the same. The valve Stem flush out of the Valve assembly and shows up on the magazine side, preventing the mag to seat in. Tried to change the oring to new 2x1 and then with 2.2x1 but no fix . Its on the new MK2 . Seems I had come across same problem with couple of friends one as well and they tried to go for a new spares . But should not be case on an expensive product.
