Umarex POI

I recently purchased a Umarex Gauntlet in .177 to shoot in my residential back yard. The problem I’m having is the poi seems to change every day especially if I lean the gun up against the wall by the barrel or grab the gun by the barrel. I ordered and installed the after market barrel band and the poi still changes. Once sighted in, it will shoot extremely accurately it’s just that I have to adjust the poi on what seems like a daily basis. I also have a Benjamin Maurader in .25 that is a tack driver that I never have had to adjust due to poi issues. Has anyone else had this problem? I was recently in Puerto Rico hunting Iguanas’s and the guides had brand new FX’s that were awesome. They told me they had the Gauntlet in .25 and had to get rid of them because of the same issues. They would bench sight them in and the poi would change as people were hunting with them. I guess the lesson is you get what you pay for! I would appreciate any input....

Pencil thin barrel coupled to a paper thin shroud that does not have a good supply of threads to screw into the receiver. Any slight bump or maybe even a temperature change does the dirt.

Barrel bands go around the air tank that moves and changes shape as the air pressure changes. Remember, a fractional change at the gun translates to a pretty good size change, in inches, 40-50 yards out.

I posted the mods I made to mine a number of times that seemed to keep things in check. Added a heavy spring along with the existing factory spring at the muzzle and added steel shroud supports at the receiver.

POI change has been the plague of the Gauntlet from the first day out.

Wow that is super crazy. I had 25 cal gauntlet and had zero issues with poi shift. It was a sub moa gun at a 100 yards. My brother had one as well same thing pellet on pellet. We sold them for a priest 2 as the gauntlet was a little to long for our needs, but otherwise there were zero issues with having to resight ever. The times we took it squirrel hunting it would would get bumped and would still be dead on. I would check the usual suspects, the shroud, the barrel is tight, and the baffel.

I just sent it off to Hajimoto to do his tune and barrel band. Shoots hole but didn’t change poi problem. Beyond frustrating as I now hv $700 in this gun. Targets are one day apart.
