Umarex Origin .25 just landed

On Monday Umarex had the .25 on sale for 283.00. Could not stand it and ordered one. This is my first .25 air rifle, hoping my Standard Airacuda in .25 gets here next month to join it. I’ve owned a Origin .22 for nearly two years and really like it. The barrel was filthy as expected got it clean , two .22 patches stacked on my weed eater pull through for .22’s worked. It came empty, charged it to 3200 and fired one shot as received with the hammer spring at 1.5 turns from tight. With the factory “baffle” it is LOUD. Just checked my Mail and my Buckrail Moderator just came. Tomorrow morning I will mount a scope and the moderator and play a little. My best tune for the .22 is at 3000 to 2000 PSI so I will with that..

I have an Origin in 25 caliber and find the same pressure range works best for accuracy, 3000-2000psi. I'm one turn away from max hammer adjustment and get 2 mags (16) of shots before refilling using that range. It's shooting the 25.39g JSB's around 900fps.

Can get 3 mags(24) worth of shots from a full fill of 3600psi, but the first 8 shots are at a much lower velocity and POI changes drastically. That's why I only fill to 3000psi. Gun is also very hand pump friendly which is a bonus for many, and why it was my first PCP.

Just shot. Two turns out got eleven shots from 3000 to 2000. I’ll shoot again today trying three turns out . Right now SEC football is on 😉Going for grouping and two mags then I’ll shoot over my chrony, knowing that no two guns are alike with regard to striker adjustment. All I have to try right now is Benjamin 27.8 gr pellets.
I think I technically fill to about 3050-3100psi. That little extra above 3000psi helps the shot count more than expected. I also noticed my velocity dropped some once my gun was fully "broken in".

It's obvious that my barrel is pretty solid. Accuracy is great once I'm in the sweet spot of 2800-2200psi. I feel like the Origin is kinda like an unregulated Avenger that is hand pump friendly. Months and several thousand dollars later I kinda wish I had bought the Avenger instead. But at the time I only planned on hand pumping and the origin is much better suited for that. Now that I have a compressor I'd rather have the consistency of the regulated Avenger.

Four turns out from tight on the striker spring is the sweet spot on mine. First mag on this setting I had a unbelievable string going consistently wise then double clutched a cycle(chambered two). The image is of the second mag string. I am very pleased. It worked out to 16 shots 3000-2000 PSI and it should only get better. At this setting the Buckrail moderator does an excellent job for backyard quiet. The buck rail moderator threads into shroud as the factory baffle insert does and has baffles inside and outside of the shroud.

my problem with the Avenger is also my problem with the Gaunlet II, the high fill pressure. I think my GX3 compressor will last longer filling my DAR Gen II and Origins to 3000 PSI , hope anyway.
