Umarex Notos as pistol

I have Notos and use it as a carbine, and I really like it as a carbine.

Has anybody tried using the Notos as a pistol?
I bought the notos for a pistol.. it's ok, but I really wish I could have bought a attaman ap16 compact pistol instead, but besides it costing too much I was worried about parts when it was on clearance at pyramid air because of the war..
so I have never put the stock on, I just put the grips on and open sights.. it's a good pistol, accurate and quiet but way too long. it's 22" including the moderator.. I plan on removing the moderator and making a adapter to screw it on for target shooting..
as it comes and with the grips and open sights it's ok, I have to rest the forend on something because it's just too long.. I really want a PCP pistol 22 caliber that is around 12" and I have been trying to see if I can get a shorter air cylinder and shorten the barrel and shroud and keep the open sights..
it would have been a much better gun if they would have made the moderator removable, but still a long pistol at 16"

I might be too long to use as a pistol.
But it shoots so well that I might buy a second one to use as a pistol.

I was also considering the Hatsan Jet (1 or 2) which is shorter.
But apparently the Hatsan Jet accuracy is not so good and the shot count is very low.

Since I am only target shooting the accuracy and shot count are extremely important.
I certainly don't want to fill the Hatsan Jet every 2-3 magazines.

I own a PP750, wich the Notos is based on.

I modified it, made it 5cm shorter so it is better balanced.

Put also LPA sights on it.

how did you shorten it that much? 5cm? did you get a shorter air cylinder or did you have someone shorten the cylinder?
yes I have seen others interchanging parts between the notos and the pp750 so you really got my attention.. please let me know, the barrel and shroud I am comfortable machining, but I am very reluctant to try to machine internal thread on a pressure vessel.. I'd be more likely to do it if I had a threading tap in the correct size, I assume metric but I don't even know what size it is..
thank you for any help and information..

I emailed pitbull airguns to see if they would make a 4" long air tube.. the factory notos is 8" and I was hoping that they could make it with the stronger tubing and pressure gauge for 4500 psi and still have the regulator.. but I never heard back.. guess I need to try to call them..
unless anyone else has a idea??

Yes I shortened the aircilinder. I bought a threading tap in M28X1 and offcourse I have a lathe.

I have a lathe too, but I've never cut internal thread.. so I suppose it's safe to do with a tap.. did you do it in the lathe to keep the tap perfectly straight?
how much did you shorten it.. I think the notos is 8" overall and well I wanted to get it down to 12" overall so I think it would have to be in half 4" air tube.. right now I get 4 magazines per charge.. so do you think I should be able to get 2 magazines?
anything else I need to know.. how about the dovetail that connects the top of the receiver to the shroud? do you know what size it is? I've never done dovetail but I have done quite a bit of key slot in the mill?
is this something I should try.. or am I over my head with the air tube?
guess I am a little bit uncomfortable with the pressure, I've welded up and built pressure vessels but they were under 100 psi and I had a easy way to pressure test them myself.. I guess it's just how high the pressure is and I don't know how to pressure test it..

also the shroud uses a tube that is threaded as well but it's just slid over a spacer on the notos.. and I was thinking it would be nice if I take off the moderator to have the adapter thread into the shroud tube.. I think after reading others posts that the notos uses the same shroud tube as the pp750.. and the notos tube is threaded on both ends but they just used slid in spacers..
do you know what size the shroud tube is and thread??
thank you for your help
it's pretty much impossible to get a affordable compact PCP pistol.. at least 12" or less overall
how long did your pp750 end up being in pistol form?

I made it 5CM shorter. And ofcourse used the tap on the lathe.
Mine is a PP750, not an notos. The shroud that you see is a modified shroud of a PP700SA.

I can shoot 25 shots at 15,8 Joule

I do not know the tread size of the shroud.

I wanten to have a compact pistol.
I like mine PP700S-A, wich I also made more compact better then the PP750 as a pistol.

A normal version on top, mine compact beneath it.
I made later a wooden grip. Here they are both

The PP700S-A is in Total 32CM long, a bit like the Ataman AP16 compact
The PP750 is 34CM long

you did really nice work.. just curious where you live, tempting to send you a air tube for threading..

did you just use the lathe to hold the tube or do you have a way to actually hold the tap in the tailstock?
