Umarex Gauntlet First Impression

OK now let me say upfront that this was just a first impression, But I did shoot the rifle about 100 times . So bear with me and I'll list things that kinda jumped out at me . 
OVERALL STYLE - Butt Ass Ugly , simple as that . But then again the same can be said for aTON of PCPs so thats not a huge shock.
About what I expected size and weight Wise so no real surprise there . 
TRIGGER - looooooooooong pull and spongy as a fat girls butt . Probably about 4-5 lbs . Needs some work to shoot it's best for sure .
SHOT COUNT - As advertised, was getting about 50 good shots ( probably could have gotten more ) per fll in 177
ACCURACY- I'd say very good for a 300$ rifle . 10 shot groups about size of a poker chip with JSB heavies at 30 yards @785 fps
SOUND - Definitely say Backyard friendly, not " spooky quiet " but definitely not aloud rifle .
A FEW THINGS THAT STUCK WITH ME - If a man is looking for a Entry level PCP and doesnt mind doing some tinkering it for sure has shot count on it's side .
The forend ( bottle cover ) isjust awful. Cheap and sloppy as hell . It's not a huge deal to fix but why its like that from the factory kinda reflects on overall quality. 
The stock is ridiculous, plain and simple . Wierd sling studs , badly shaped , Cheek riser ugly as I am . And it weighs a Ton . It's gotta weigh 3-4 lbs . 
The other thing that jumped out at me was how bad the valve burped when shot ...It HAD to be wasting a much air in hammer bounce as the actual shot.
SPEAKING Of HAMMER SPRING .....WAY too much effort to cock , feels very similar to a marauder with a 12-15 lb spring . And rough ..It does howevee have the groove to hold bolt open which is a nice touch .
Quality cost money , plain and simple . This gun is very cheap ..... Sooooooo, you see where im going with this right ?
But for guys wanting one , of have one they are hitting problems with I'd FOR SURE check out HAJIMOTO VIDEOS on the rifle . Haj has a ton of tweaks that are sure to help . 
Good shot count platform , but needs work to be a " turn key " rifle ...
Just one guys Opinion.

Joe I share a lot of your views on the Gauntlet. The gun was accurate of of the box but the trigger was long and would hang up but when it broke it broke clean. After some cleaning and polishing and a new lighter spring. The trigger is very nice just wish it was two stage. I also adjusted the regulator and I’m getting 50 shots at 890fps in .22 with 15gr pellets. I bought this gun not for quality but to see what all the hype was about. Well I have too say that after some easy tweaks. I am very happy with the accuracy and performance of this rifle. This is how I some-up the Gauntlet. As far as Quality you get what you pay for, but the accuracy that you can achieve with a little work and some easy mods is hard too believe they come from a $300 gun.

I agree with you Joe, you do get what you pay for. I bought mine back in Sept. And got it in Nov.. It shot well with accuracy, cocking was rough at frist but smothed out. The trigger was long and soft. I watched all of Hajimotos videos and went to work on the gun, first I found a liter spring for the trigger pull. And then ajusted the length of pull screw, and the sear screw, now it's short and lite break. I ajusted the reg. pressure to 1400 psi, and added a larger air bottle 21ci.. Also installed a Jefferson Arms hammer kit, to have an ajustable hammer. I did not open up any of the ports on the gun, still stock there. 15gr jsb about 901 to 890 fps 18gr in the mid 800s. Crossman 14 hp at 908 to 898. This gun is now a squirle killing machine. And that cost me about $200.00 and change more. I'm loven it now. Dave

You’re 100% right Joe I bought mine in November And Sold in December on Ebay I thought the gauntlet will be a platform easy to adjust the hammer spring Not at all, very disappointed with the power and the “sloppy” bottle cap. No offense, but for me was false advertisement, that’s why I got rid of so fast I ordered 
a At44 Long QE .22 and a Audrius regulator and after 2 months and almost 2000 shots I Have “the beast” shooting 67 shots between 841fps and the last 826 fps regulator @ 100bar and hammer all the way to minimum power. It will be up for sale and I will be sharing the spreadsheets with the results.
The reason for sale I’m looking for something regulated and lighter, other than there’s no match for the At44 around this price range. Is just my opinion

I bought one last month in .22. To be legal here, the guts of the shroud were removed to cross the border - still quite quiet, especially compared to my

Brocock Concept. I haven't chronographed it yet - but seems as if it's running in the 20fpe to 21 fpe range, same as the Brocock, on the indoor range steel plates.

Getting a true 70shots from a fill. That's good/bad news for the gophers next month. Good for me, bad for them. Amazing shot string for such a small bottle.

25 yard groups were best with Predator 16gr. and with the H&N Barracuda Hunter Extreme 19.09gr. HP's - .223" to .300" mostly. Too - next time out, I tried the

21.23? gr. Barracuda Match. They were also in the same range, but we only shot 20yards, so ran right at the 1/4" level for a number of groups. They did not seem

much slower than the lighter pellets. Must remember to take the chronograph next time.
