I understand the Gauntlet 2 is a "budget" pcp rifle, but they should still stand behind their advertised claims.
I received the .22 Gauntlet 2 over the weekend, and was getting some underwhelming chrono numbers, so I called their "service" department. They told me to try RWS pellets and call back if performance is still lacking. Ok, so I buy the recommended pellets, and was still not reaching their 33 fpe claims (I was getting 28fpe max with 26fpe avg). Called back, and they say that's "within spec." The guy said I can send it in on my own dime, but they will probably just send it back saying it's "within spec." I asked if they can do something with the regulator or ports or something to reach the advertised fpe, and he said they could, but probably won't because it's "within spec."
I know I'm not the only one that saw the reviews on YouTube where reviewers were getting 40+fpe for the .22. I guess I'm just a sucker that believed the hype. I was looking forward to purchasing the .30 version next month to match the .22, but now I'm gonna pass. The one I get probably won't reach the stated 99fpe, but I'm sure Umarex will make sure all the YouTube reviewers get ones that will.
I'm just gonna steer clear of any Umarex products in the future, and tell my friends who are starting to get into airguns with me, to avoid them too. Mistakes happen and you can get a lemon in anything you buy. But the reputable companies try to correct their failings by making returns free, easy, and hassle free. The people working at the Umarex service center make sure that doesn't happen.
